BHU BTech Eligibility & Highlights 2025
BHU BTech course of UG level is four-year long. The mode of study is full-time. Candidates wanting to apply for BHU BTech course admission need to take the CUET exam. The shortlisted students then have to take part in counselling for seat allotment. Students who meet the below criteria can apply for BTech at Banaras Hindu University:

BHU placements are good. The highest and average packages secured by MBA students in 2025 were INR 19.8 LPA and INR 10.1 LPA, respectively. Median salary stood at INR 9.2 LPA. The university has not yet released the placement data 2026 for other courses. During the placement drive 2025, a total of 177 placement drives were held, and more than 950 students were placed.
BHU has a dediacted placement cell which invites prominent companies for the placement drives. During the Banaras Hindu University 2025 placement drive, more than 65 companies participated. Some of the eminent recruiters during the 2025 placements included Cognizant, Genpact, Adani Wilmar, IBM, Infosys, Wipro, Deloitte, KPMG, etc.
Admission to most of the BHU UG and PG courses is through CUET score. However, for some courses such as PhD, MFA, etc. the university has a separate admission criteria. Candidates must check the admission requirement for the preferred course before applying for admission.
The minimum CUET scores required for BHU admission would differ based on category, course and rounds. For the General AI category, the minimum score accepted in the first round was 73.

BHU has become more vibrant and inclusive since the time co-education was introduced in its Faculty of Social Science and Faculty of Arts. While the IIT-BHU still has a more conservative culture, BHU offers its students more freedom and facilities.
Students are free to eat at any mess of their hostel. The cost of a general diet is INR 40 - 45 per day. The cost of a special diet (served twice a week) is INR 50 - 90 per day. Students with friends at IIT have access to higher quality food.
BHU is the largest residential university in Asia, with over 70 hostels. Students ranked under 300 - 400 are easily inducted into hostels.
If any candidate is unable to receive the OTP, they should try resending or reloading the sent OTP. Wait for atleast 15-20 minutes or change the current netword settings. If this does not fix the problem of OTP not getting loaded, try using a different Email Id or phone no.

Since last year, the university has been selecting candidates to the UG course based on merit in CUET-UG. Thus, the students should stay updated with the CUET-UG dates for BHU. BHU accepts CUET scores for admission to UG and PG courses. The admissions are over within few weeks of CUET counselling. CUET-PG is usually held in March whereas CUET-UG takes place in May. Students must check the complete schedule for exact dates. CUET applications for the coming year will begin in February and continue till April.
Yes, the BHU CUET counselling process for both UG and PG courses is carried out in online mode. Candidates have to visit the university admission portal to register for the counselling process. The form filling, document upload, and fee payment also has to be done in online mode. Fee payment can be done through credit card/debit card/net banking.
M.D. cutoff is based on NEET PG scores for admission to the MD and MS courses. As per NEET PG cutoff the Round 1 closing ranks for top courses including MD in Radiodiagnosis closed at 159 and MD in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy closed at 388 for the General category All India candidates. Also, NEET PG was concluded after the release of the Round 5 Seat Allotment. BHU offers entrance-based admissions to all its UG and PG courses. To get admission to any UG and PG courses, it is compulsory to appear for the CUET-UG/ CUET-PG entrance exams. Further, the university also accepts other entrance exam such as NEET, GATE, CAT, etc. for admission to specific courses. Hence, candidates are required to appear for the accepted entrance-exam and also meet the course-specific eligibility for admission at BHU.

As per that, BTech in Computer Science and Engineering emerged as the most competitive specialisation with a closing rank of 1043. BHU cutoff 2025 was released for multiple specialisations. Based on the last round cutoff, the closing ranks varied between 1489 and 14447 for the General AI quota. So, if you belong to the General category, you must target a JEE Advanced cutoff rank of up to 14447 or below to secure a seat at IIT BHU for BTech admission. For top branches like CSE and Mathematics and Computing, the maximum required cutoff ranks for admission were 1489 and 1924 in the last round.
Note: Cutoff ranks vary for different rounds and specialisations and categories.
CUET score required for BHU admission depends on the candidate's selected course and reservation category. As per the CUET cut-off 2025, the closing CUET UG score for admission to most courses ranged from 500 to 600 for the General AI category. For some courses, such as BSc Computer Science & BSc Mathematics with Statistics, the closing score was between 400 and 500 for the General AI category. Cut-off scores for reserved categories like OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and EWS are usually 15-20% lower than the General AI category.
Banaras Hindu University offers a four-year full-time BTech course at the undergraduate level. Candidates seeking admission to BHU BTech course must have passed Class 12 or its equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology (PCMB) with English with a minimum 50% aggregate. Apart from the eligibility criteria mentioned here, candidates are also required to appear for the CUET-UG entrance exam to be eligible for BHU BTech admission 2023.
Whether you can get BHU for the BAMS course based on the AYUSH results would depend entirely on the category you belong to. For the General and OBC AI categories, the last round cutoff was 30748 and 32844, respectively. Hence, admissions with a rank of 70K are not possible for these categories.
On the other hand, for the SC AI category, the last round cutoff was 148564. There admissions could be possible with a rank of 70K.
BHU BTech Curriculum
BTech is a four-year course, which is spread across eight semesters. In the first year of the course, students are taught basic Science subjects, such as Physics, Mathematics, etc. From the second year, the subjects are more specialisation-specific.
