Delhi University: Fees, Admission 2026, Courses, Placements, Ranking, Cutoff

At present, DU consists of 80+ departments including North & South campuses. It has 77 affiliated colleges and 5 other institutes with an enrollment of more than 1.3 lakhs regular and 2.6 lakhs non-regular students. Some of the colleges under DU are SRCC, Kirori Mal College, LSR, Hansraj College, Hindu College, Gargi, Sri Venkateshwara College and Miranda House among others. Recognised by UGC as the 'Institute of Excellence', Delhi University is listed among the most prestigious educational institutions in India. The entrance exams accepted by the university include CUET DUET and DU LL.B. Entrance Test among others.

The total tuition fee for MSc courses offered by the University of Delhi-affiliated colleges range between INR 432 and INR 2.3 Lacs depending on the college and MSc course a student is seeking or taking admission to. This fee, however, is sourced from unofficial sources. Hence is indicative. In reality, the total fee that a student is required to pay is much higher than INR 432 or 2.3 Lacs Indian Rupees. This is because there are other fee components which are charged by DU colleges which include application fee, development charges, exam fee and other components.

The admission process for MCom at Delhi University up until 2021 was offered across two categories: Direct Admission and Through Entrance Test. Also, along with the entrance exam, interview rounds were also conducted for admission to Delhi University PG programmes.

There was no minimum age limit to take admission to the MSc programme offered by the university. However, DU PG admission 2022-23 was subject to a valid score in DUET as announced by the University. Starting 2023, the admission process of DU for its postgraduate courses, such as MA, MSc and MCom will be subject to the CUET-PG exam conducted by NTA.

After the results, qualified students will be required to appear for the seat allocation process conducted by the university for final seat allotment. While there is no information on direct admission on the official website of DU or its affiliated colleges students are advised to visit the admission office for more details on the same. 

The CUET UG cut off is determined by CUET participating universities seperately. Parameters on the basis of which CUET UG cut off is released are:

• Total number of candidates that appeared for the CUET UG exam
• The number of seats offered by the participating universities through CUET UG
• The difficulty level of the CUET exam
• Overall performance of the test takers (pass percentage/ score range, etc.)

CUET cut off is based on the percentile of the candidate. To calculate the CUET percentile following formula is applied:

100*Number of candidates appeared in the session with a raw score is equal to or less than a candidate/ total number of candidates appeared for CUET UG.

DU admission is open. Admission in Delhi University is based on CUET-UG & CUET-PG scores. Below are the upcoming events for DU admission:

• University of Delhi (DU) has released the admission cutoff for 5-yr integrated BA LLB and BBA LLB courses through Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) scores.
• The CUET PG 2026 registration process for admission to PG courses is expected to begin in Jan 2026.
• DU CSAS-PG 2025 Spot Round 3 allocations have been released for admission to various PG courses based on the CUET-PG 2025 scores, and the last date for fee payment is Aug 20, 2025.

DU University registrations via CUET usually begins in February every year. Soon after the release of the notification, the CUET application process commences online. Candidates willing to appear for CUET exam must ensure to fill out the application form online when released. Followed by the application forms of CUET UG and CUET PG, DU starts the DU CSAS registration for final college and course allotment of students who qualify the exams. The process will began after the release of CUET-UG and CUET-PG results which are expected to release in July.

Step 1: DU LLM Application Process 2025

Aspirants meeting the eligibility condition can apply online. They need to fill out the application form, upload documents and pay the application fee.

Step 2: Entrance Exam/ Selection

DU accepts CUET PG score for admission to LLM course. The faculty of Law conducts LLM Entrance Test in online mode for a duration of two hours for shortlisting aspirants for LLM admission. 

Step 3: Counselling

All admissions will be made after physical or online counselling. The shortlisted candidates are called for counselling and document verification. After verification, candidates need to pay a course fee to confirm their seat in the university.

The MCA admission process at DU is done in online mode by visiting the official website of the university. To start the admissions process candidates need to register themselves on the official website of DU. After registeration, candidates can fill the MCA admission form. Once the form is filled with all necessary details, candidates must attach all necessary documents and pay the DU MCA application fee before final submission of the application.

Yes, the university has changed its admission process in 2023. Starting 2023, DU admission to all the postgraduate courses will be subject to CUET PG scores seat allotment. Placements at DU vary from college to college. In general, students from courses such as BCom Hons, BA Economics Hons and BSc Computer Sciences get good placements at Delhi University. Furthermore, if anyone is not getting placement from the college, students have the option to register for the placements under the Centralised Placement Cell of DU.

Delhi University offers BCom Hons and LLB courses. Candidates must clear the DU LLB Entrance Test for LLB admission, and for BCom Hons, candidates must have 40% to 45% in Class 12 and must also have a relevant score in CUET. At the undergraduate level, the University of Delhi offers full-time BCom and BCom (Hons) programmes which are considered two of the most competitive courses offered by the constituent colleges of the varsity. The duration of both programmes is three years. Admission to these courses was subject to merit in Class 12 till 2021. However, starting in 2022, admission for all the  UG courses at DU is based on CUET  (conducted by NTA). The criteria for BCom (Hons) admission at DU is as follows:

• Candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent exam
• Have a valid score in the CUET (Common University Entrance Test)
• The candidate must be a citizen of India
• Candidate must have not crossed the age of 25 years

Yes, DU is a government university and is recognised as an Institute of Excellence by the UGC. The University of Delhi is listed among the country's most prestigious educational institutions. DU is ranked 5th under the Universties category by NIRF 2025. Not only that, Being a government university, DU has two campuses, namely North Campus and South Campus. However, starting 2022, admission for all the undergraduate courses at DU will be based on CUET (conducted by NTA). The most popular specialisations offered under BSc (Hons) at the University of Delhi remain Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Computer Science, among various others. Yes, each student of LLM programme shall submit a dissertation carrying 200 marks as prescribed. The students shall submit the title with synopsis for dissertation for approval in the 5th semester on the specific data. 
The supervisors shall be appointed by the specified data after successful defence of the synopsis by the candidate through an interview before the panel appointed by the LLM Committee.
