IIT Delhi BTech Eligibility & Highlights 2026
IIT Delhi BTech is a four-year course, which is offered in a full-time mode across 14 specialisations. Some of the offered course specialisations are CSE, Mechanical Engineering, Textile Technology, etc. Admission to IIT Delhi BTech courses is based on the aspirant's JEE Advanced score. To qualify for JEE Advanced, candidates have to pass the JEE Main exam. Students can appear for JEE Main in two sessions.
After the entrance test result declaration, candidates have to go through the JoSAA counselling for the seat allotment process. To apply for admission to BTech branches in IIT Delhi, eligible students need to apply for JEE Main. Moreover, the institute also offers dual degree courses (BTech & MTech) in three specialisations.
The centralised counselling process for all the IITs is managed and regulated by the JoSAA, based on which seat allotment is carried out for all the JEE Advanced-qualified candidates. The seat allotment is based on the IITD BTech cut-off and a candidate's preference for specialisations.

The cut off rank in Round 6 for BTech in Computer Science and Engineering is 118 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. The IIT Delhi application process for BTech generally starts with JEE Main registrations. Registrations are carried out twice a year in two sessions. STEP 2: Release of Cutoff List
After the entrance exam is concluded, the counselling body releases cutoff list. Students who pass JEE Mains become eligible for the next and final exam. The final selection is based on JEE Advanced score. Candidates with scores equal to or more than the cutoff become eligible for admission. Selected candidates have to participate in the JoSAA counselling for seat allotment.

IIT Delhi Placements 2025 reached a placement rate of 61% as per media reports. More than 40 international offers were made to UG students from reputed companies across multiple regions, including the Netherlands, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, the UK, the UAE and the USA have been received by UG students during the IIT Delhi placement 2025. Apart from this, more than 50 international offers (including PPOs) were received from around 20 international companies during Phase-I in 2024.

The course outline of mechanical in IIT Delhi or IIT Bombay is similar and is quite well aligned with the course structure of top ranked international universities and the mechanical is one of the most desired and demanded branches in the IITs. The universities stand on similar QS ranking level and the facility and quality of infrastructure on average is almost the same in both the campuses, IITB has a lake, a pretty larger campus than that of IITD whereas IITD stands in a very desired location of Delhi ( in Hauz Khas) which stands very close to the international airport and various railway stations and is comparatively very green and clean than the outer Delhi. The trends of placement or students going for further studies differ very less and if you are really relying on placements to be a deciding factor, you'll still be in doubt. If we look at the opening and closing ranks of the department in both the colleges, the mechanical in IITB opens before it starts at IITD and also closes some numbers before, but the range is quite same. Many people choose IITB for its past trend or some local variables and similarly people also choose IITD if they aspire to go for civil services as Delhi is the hub for the preparation for UPSC and other civil services and again the accessibility of the nearby regions. The JEE Advanced cutoff for 2025 has been released for Round 1.
