Delhi University Highlights 2025

Established in 1922 as a unitary, teaching and residential University by the Act of the then Central Legislative Assembly, a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, research and social outreach has made Delhi University a role-model and trend setter for other universities. Recognised as an 'Institute of Excellence' by the UGC, the University of Delhi (also known as DU or Delhi University) is listed among the country's most prestigious educational institutions. Established in 1922, Delhi University has grown into one of India's largest universities with over 6 lakh students under UG, PG, certificate, diploma, PG diploma and distance programmes.

Delhi University, Delhi has been ranked 5th by the NIRF Ranking 2025 under the 'University' category. In addition to this, the University of Delhi has been ranked 328 by the QS World University Rankings 2026. DU Delhi courses include various UG, PG and doctorate programmes in streams such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Law, Medical, Design, Information Technology, etc. DU University has two campuses- North and South. Delhi University, Delhi also has 90+ colleges affiliated with it, along with 86 departments, 23 centres, 16 faculties and three institutes spread all across Delhi.

Apart from its full-time courses, DU University Delhi also offers distance-learning programmes from its School of Open Learning (SOL Delhi University). Delhi University offers over 1,060 academic staff members including temporary and permanent professors. It offers around 16 faculties and 86 departments under all the affiliated colleges of Delhi University. In addition to this, from presidents to prime ministers, University of Delhi has witnessed visits from numerous inspiring personalities such as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Narendra Modi, Atal Bihari Vajpayi and Morarji Desai among others. DU admission 2025 for UG programmes is subject to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) exam conducted by NTA.

Additionally, DU PG admission will be based on CUET-PG. Aspirants, willing to apply for Delhi University at more than 90 DU-affiliated colleges must register for CUET exams and appear for the same. DU consists of 30+ libraries across all of its campuses in Delhi. Delhi University has 15 hostels for its students on the north and south campuses. Top DU colleges such as Shri Ram College of Commerce and Lady Shri Ram College for Women students received the highest package of INR 35 LPA and INR 48.9 LPA in 2024, respectively. Q: What is the criteria for admission to MCom at DU?

Delhi University MCom admission up until 2021 was offered in two categories: Direct Admission and Through Entrance Test. Also, along with the entrance exam, interview rounds were also conducted for admission to Delhi University PG programmes. There was no minimum age limit to take admission to the MSc programme offered by the university. However, DU PG admission 2022-23 was subject to a valid score in DUET as announced by the University.

Starting 2023, the admission process of DU for its postgraduate courses, such as MA, MSc and MCom will be subject to the CUET-PG exam conducted by NTA. After the results, qualified students will be required to appear for the seat allocation process conducted by the university for final seat allotment.

Q: Can I take admission in DU MBA without CAT?

No, aspirants wishing to apply for any of the MBA colleges under DU must pass CAT. DU colleges offering MBA provide maximum weightage to the CAT percentile. Check below the CAT weighate for admission at DU:

Apart from CAT, the performance of the candidates in Class 10, Class 12, graduation will also be considered for MBA admission.

Q: What is the course fees for two years MCA in Delhi University?

The total tuition fee of MCA at the DU is INR 480. Candidates have to pay the admission/first semester fee after selection to confirm their seats. The course fee structure is inclusive of various components, such as security deposit, hostel fee, etc. The mentioned fee is as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is however still subject to changes and hence, is indicative.

Delhi University Admission Process and Important Dates 2025

Delhi University admission 2025 to UG programmes is subject to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2025) exam conducted by the NTA. Additionally, last year onwards, DU has started conducting the PG courses admission through CUET PG for Delhi University PG admission. Previously, admission to some of the UG and all PG courses were subject to the entrance exams conducted by DU, namely Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET), or Delhi University LLB Entrance Exam, followed by a Personal Interview (PI).
