BITSAT is a computer-based test for admissions to Integrated First Degree Programmes of BITS Pilani Campuses in Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad. The exam, this year, will be conducted tentatively in the month of July and August .
BITSAT is easier as compared to other national level examinations. According to experts, it is an exam where time management and presence of mind is given more importance than a deep knowledge of the subject. With a basic understanding of concepts, aspirants can manage to crack the exam.

How do I prepare for BITSAT?
The Prep Phase
- Read NCERT books. These are simple books usually ignored by the majority of aspirants. The book will help you clear every speck of concept related doubts.
- Time management: The phrase - Practice Makes A Man Perfect - holds quite true for BITSAT 2021. Try to solve and practice as many model test papers as you can.
- Jot down all the important formulas in the notebook. Try to revise all formulas once a day before going to bed. Do not neglect even the most formulas you think insignificant. Many questions do tend to be formula-based. Identify shortcuts to solve complicated problems. This will help you save time.
- English and Logical Reasoning sections are unique to BITSAT. So, you should get familiar with the pattern of the questions. This requires only the basics and no special preparation.
- The difficulty level of the BITSAT question paper is easier than that of JEE Main. Focus on clearing the concepts in all the subjects but not on the exam only. This way you would be able to crack other exams besides BITSAT.
- Determine your strengths and weaknesses. Try to improve your hold on weaker topics by revising them every day.
- BITSAT 2021 will be an online (Computer-based) test. Aspirants who are used to the pen-paper approach should solve an ample number of mock tests online during their preparation period.
- Allot one hour every day to read a good newspaper. In BITSAT, out of the 150 questions, 25 are reserved for Logical Reasoning and English Proficiency. Neither of these two areas can be tackled using conventional sit-study-revise techniques that are viable for PCM. To make the best use of the 25 questions, reading a good national English newspaper on daily basis will be more helpful. If you have been an avid reader throughout your childhood, then this section might turn out to be a cakewalk for you.
- Pay attention to all the subjects.
During the Exam:
- Take the last day's last slot if you can. Earlier papers being easy is just a myth.
- Do not spend too much time on difficult problems. Skip for the last and proceed to the other questions.
- Make strategies to solve the problem. DO NOT attempt questions blindly.
- This is possibly the only examination where you can score more than the maximum marks by attempting the 12 bonus questions. You can attempt these extra questions only if you have solved all the 150 questions. Out of 12, four questions are asked from each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. It is wiser to check the 150 answers before opting for the bonus questions. Once you landed on the bonus questions, there is no going back to those 150 questions you answered already.
- The exam has a section devoted to English language skills. Generally, students tend to ignore preparations for this section as they are more consumed with other important subjects. Given the competition, doing well in English will help you score a good rank in BITSAT 2021.
- Always keep track of time. Check the timer available during the online test every 5 - 10 questions, maintain pace accordingly.
Can you prepare for BITSAT 2021 in one month?
The answer is certainly a ‘Yes’ if you follow the guidelines below.
- In one month, give each day to BITSAT (around 10 hours a day) preparation. If you are clear with your concepts, one month can be enough.
- Take mock tests back to back. This will help you ascertain your strengths and weaknesses. According to experts, while taking mock tests, if your score is in the range of 350 - 380, you will have a strong understanding of most of the topics. However, if your score is in the range of 320 - 350, then you need to improve your accuracy to get more score. You also need to save time to attempt those last 12 questions so that you can push your score a little higher.
- Solve previous years’ question papers. This will help you get an idea about the type of questions you are likely to get in the exam. Also, you will be spared from reading truckloads of books.
- Focus on English if you are not confident in grammar or vocabulary. Attempt some questions on logical reasoning. Try to attempt the previous 2-3 years' questions. Questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology are a cakewalk. Revise all the topics once without going into much detail.
