What Is the BITSAT Seat Matrix?
The BITSAT seat matrix is nothing but the total number of seats available for admission through BITSAT across all campuses of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS). Students must note that BITS does not follow a reservation system based on caste or domicile. All seats are filled purely on merit, based on BITSAT score and eligibility conditions. The seats are distributed across the following categories.
- Campuses: Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad, and Dubai
- Degree types:
- B.E. (4-year engineering programmes)
- M.Sc. (5-year integrated programmes)
- Individual disciplines/branches
- Special admission categories (where applicable)

BITS does not release the BITSAT seat matrix details. Although the seat matrix for BITS can be computed based on-
- Approved sanctioned intake
- Institute-level disclosures submitted to national bodies
- Programme-wise intake used for counselling rounds

The BITSAT question paper is divided into four section. For the Mathematics/Biology section, there will be 40 questions. Physics and Chemistry will have 30 questions in each section. Logical Reasoning will have 20 and English Proficiency will have 10 questions. There will 130 questions in the question paper.

BITS Pilani (Pilani Campus)
The Pilani campus is the oldest and largest campus. It has the largest share in the approved seat intake. BITS, Pilani offers admission to the various programmes, including: core engineering branches such as Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil and into Dual degree M.Sc. programmes in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Economics and Biological Sciences, among others.
BITS Goa Campus
BITS Goa offers most major engineering branches along with select M.Sc. dual degree programmes. Branches such as Computer Science, Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering remain the most competitive here.
BITS Hyderabad Campus
BITS Hyderabad is the newest campus. It offers core engineering disciplines and new-age programmes along with the full set of M.Sc. dual degree options
Does BITS Have Category-Wise Seat Division?
No. BITS does not have category-wise reservations such as SC, ST, OBC, EWS, or state quota. All other seats are filled strictly based on BITSAT score and counselling preferences. The only seat-related classifications are:
- General merit seats
- Admission under the International Student category
- Limited board topper seats (one per board, subject to conditions)
