As per the IIT Madras Student Diversity Report 2023-2024, 3,440 students have enrolled in the BTech (UG 4-year course) and 1,469 in the UG 5-year programme. It has been observed that female participation was 20% in UG 4-year and 18% in UG 5-year courses. For PG programs, 1,695 students preferred the PG 2-year course, while 519 and 274 enrolled for the PG 5-year and 3-year programmes, respectively. Female enrollment peaked at 61% in PG 5-year courses, with 48 international students in PG 2-year and 7 in PG 3-year courses.

To get admission at IIT Madras for MTech courses, candidate must qualify the GATE exam. The IIT Madras GATE Cutoff 2024 for the General AI candidates was ranged between 492 and 877. Therefore, it is quite likely that at the cutoff of 700-750, candidate can get admission to MTech courses. However, the choice of course would depend on the last-round closing rank of that particular course.
The last year 2022 cutoff ranks for BTech in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering at IIT Madras - Indian Institute of Technology other than General category are - 3287 for OBC, 1796 for SC, 901 for ST and 1373 for EWS. Yes, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras offers a two-year full-time M.Tech course at the postgraduate level. Direct admissions are possible in IIT Madras for some Diploma programmes. For other programmes such as UG and PG courses, direct admissions are not available. Students will have to appear for the entrance exam for admission to the available programmes.
