Always keep in mind
Understanding the exam is the very first step to start the preparation. As students are already past the analysis stage, it is crucial to always keep in mind the exam pattern. There is a stark difference between JEE Main and Advanced exams. As Main focuses on accuracy, it has single concept questions with direct application.
Commonly asked questions
The JEE Advanced 2025 exam will be held ion May 18. JEE Advanced 2025 will be conducted by IIT Kanpur. JEE Main 2025 qualified candidates who achieve rank among the top 2.5 lakh candidates could apply for JEE Advanced exam. Candidates can appear in JEE Advanced two consecutive times. JEE Advanced 2025 will be held in CBT mode and there will be 2 papers. Each paper will have 3 sections: Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Candidates had to attempt both papers 1 and 2 to be eligible for admission to the IITs.
IIT Kanpur will conduct JEE Advanced 2025 exam in May 2025. The exam is conducted by any one of the 7 IITs namely IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee or Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, under the aegis of the Joint Admission Board (JAB). Each IIT gets chance to conduct JEE Advanced exam on rotation basis.
The difficulty level of JEE Advanced will completely depend on the preparation of the candidates for the exam. JEE Advanced is known to be difficult. Last year, JEE Advanced witnessed a total number of 1,80,200 candidates appearing in both papers 1 and 2. In the exam, 48,248 candidates have been qualified. This data shows that the exam is a tough nut to crack. Therefore, the preparation should be strong. Aspirants should practice daily, take mocktests, revise all concepts and leave no topics from the JEE Advanced syllabus.
On the other hand, JEE Advanced tests students on multiple concepts, requiring them to build a strong foundation on the subjects. It is expected that the students develop deeper conceptual clarity along with enhanced analytical skills to crack the exam. It consists of
- MCQs with a single answer,
- questions having multiple answers
- matrix match questions requiring the matching of two columns and at times also three columns as well
- subjective type integer questions where an answer is required either in integer form or upto two/ three correct decimal places
Subject-wise important topics
Based on the previous year's papers, aspirants can focus on:
- Physics – Optics, Wave and Sound, Current Electricity, Heat & Thermodynamics
- Maths – Calculus, Algebra, Vector, Permutation & Combination
- Chemistry – The entire Chemistry syllabus is divided into three parts – Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Inorganic Chemistry. Students can focus more on Physical Chemistry and in Organic Chemistry be thorough with reaction charts and reaction chains
Revision
- In the last two weeks, students should refrain from studying any new chapters or referring to new books.
- The time should be invested in revising the important formulae and going through all the important concepts. It is very crucial to retain the knowledge one has gained over the preparation period.
- III. In order to leverage it to the fullest, it is recommended to revise from the handwritten notes and important points provided by the teacher for easier retention power and a better grasp of the topic.
- Revising from the notes helps in creating mind maps with the help of diagrams, graphs, tables, and flowcharts that help in the quick retrieval of information with the help of photographic memory.
Mock Test
The key to acing the objective type paper is to solve questions as quickly as possible that too without making any mistakes. In the last few days give as many mock tests as possible as it will help in increasing the speed & accuracy for better time management. While answering the test, aspirants must closely monitor the time taken for each question. At the same time, after each test analyze the mistakes to avoid committing the same error again. Take it as an opportunity to get hold of the correct solution and clear all the concepts related to the topic. For getting an exam feel, one can even schedule to sit for the test as per the JEE Advanced time to develop a biological clock for the final day of the exam.
In addition to all the tips mentioned above, being thorough with NCERT books goes without saying as it will come in handy in the application of the concepts and help in getting deeper into the analysis and derivations. In the end, while preparing, students should not neglect their health. They should take a good night's sleep and also do a little bit of physical exercise to refresh their minds.
