JEE Main 2024 Number of Attempts: Students having queries like how many attempts in JEE Mains 2024 should know that the exam will be held twice this year. NTA will conduct the JEE Main 2024 exam in two attempts in January and April respectively. JEE Main 2024 exam date first attempt was from January 24 to February 1 while the second attempt will be held from April 4 to 12. Hence, the JEE Main number of attempts 2024 is two.

However, for a student, the total JEE Main number of attempts is calculated from the year of passing class 12. Students can appear in JEE Mains in three consecutive years from the year of passing class 12 board exams. Basis this, JEE Main 2024 number of attempts is two in a year and three years of appearing in the exam would make a total number of attempts six.

  • Students who have passed the class 12 exam in 2021 can appear in JEE Main 2024 exam twice in January and April.

Validity of JEE Main 2024 Score

The validity of JEE Main score is one year. Candidates appearing in JEE Main 2024 can take admission through its score only in the year 2024. Candidates who have appeared in JEE Main in the previous year cannot take admission in any institute in 2024 or later.

Q:   What is the age limit to apply for JEE Main?

There is no minimum or maximum age to apply for JEE Main as per JEE Main eligibility criteria by NTA. You can appear in JEE Mains for three consecutive years from the year of passing class 12. You must have passed class 12 in 2024, 2025 or you are appearing in 2026 if you plan to apply for JEE Main 2026.

Q:   How many minimum marks are required to clear JEE Mains?
A:
The minimum marks required to clear JEE Mains depends on your category. If you are an SC candidate then your cut off is 48, for ST candidate your cut off will be 56, for OBC candidate the cutoff will be 72 and for OC candidate it is 100. This is based on the year wise analysis. This needs not to be same every year. But the variation will not be very large, it just varies by 2-3 marks.
Q:   Is the criteria of 75% marks in class 12 applicable in JEE Main 2026?
A:

There is no requirement of 75% marks in class 12 for appearing in JEE Mains 2026. The eligibility criteria of minimum 75% marks in class 12 is required at the time of admission in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. JEE Main Eligibility Criteria for Admission

The eligibility criteria for admission in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs are decided by the Joint Admission Board (JAB). The details about eligibility criteria for admission to the institute can be checked from Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) portal, the counselling authority which admits students to the institutes. For details about the eligibility criteria for admission, candidates can visit the JoSAA website. JEE Main eligibility criteria decided by NTA are only meant for appearing in the examination.

Minimum 75% Marks in Class 12

This is one of the primary eligibility that every candidate needs to fulfill. Candidates need to score at least 75% marks in class 12 to get admission in NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Candidates belonging to SC/ST need to have at least 65% marks.

Q:   What is JEE Main Eligibility Criteria?
A:

The eligibility criteria to appear in JEE Main are

  • Candidate must have passed class 12 in 2024/2025 or appearing in 2026.
  • There is no age limit to appear in JEE Mains
  • No minimum percentage is required to appear in the JEE Mains exam. 75% marks is required for admission in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs
  • Candidates must have Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/any other vocational subject for Paper 1 (BE/B.Tech). For paper 2, candidates need to have Mathematics as compulsory subject along with any other subject combination. Candidates can appear in JEE for three consecutive years from the year of passing class 12
Q:   What is Qualifying marks for JEE Mains 2026?
A:

Qualifying marks for JEE Mains 2026, also called qualifying percentile for JEE Mains will be announced by the NTA along with the JEE Main 2026 session 2 result. Candidates must note that qualifying percentile for JEE Mains 2026 is the minimum percentile required to appear in JEE Advanced 2026. For admission to NIT or IIITs, there is no provision of qualifying marks in JEE Mains 2026 and admission is given based on All India Rank in JEE Mains exam. NTA will announce JEE Mains 2026 All India rank in April after session 2 exam results.

The official website to apply for JEE Main 2026 is jeemain.nta.nic.in. NTA has released the JEE Main application form 2026 session 1. Candidates can fill the form online from the website. JEE Main 2026 Session 2 application form will be available in January last week, 2026.

JEE Main 2024 Registration

NTA started the JEE Main registration 2024 for session 2 on February 2. Candidates interested in applying for JEE Mains 2024 can fill the application form online at jeemain.nta.nic.in. JEE Main 2024 application form last date session 2 was March  4. For session 1, JEE Main application form 2024 was available on February 12.
