Securing a total of 125 out of 150 marks, Pranav Tripathi bagged AIR 1 in CLAT 2017 PG exam. A student of National Law School of India University, Bangalore, Pranav is currently pursuing LLM in Business Laws. On being asked if he expected to be the topper of CLAT 2017 for PG admissions, Pranav shared, “Yes, of course. Even my friends and family members were sure because of my previous performances.”
It may be noted that Pranav gave CLAT PG exam in 2016 also and got AIR 27. Apart from that, Pranav took AILET and BHU LLM exam last year and secured AIR 10 and AIR 7, respectively. It is worth noting that Pranav is also a Gold Medalist in LLB Honours that he pursued from Lucknow University.

A resident of Kanpur city, Pranav had appeared for CLAT UG six years ago but could not crack the exam. Elaborating on the same, Pranav shared, “Six years ago, there was little awareness about CLAT in my hometown, Kanpur. I wrote the exam without any preparation and missed it by few marks. If I had prepared, I would have definitely been selected in CLAT UG as well. I don’t think that there is any difference between CLAT UG and PG. Both require same hard work.”
An extremely dedicated student, Pranav did not take any coaching for the exam. According to him, regular study at home and sincerity in the classroom made him achieve Rank 1 in the exam.
When we asked which books a student should study for CLAT preparation, Pranav responded, “Bare Act study is must. Apart from that, similar books are prescribed in the curriculum in almost every university.”
Talking about how he dealt with his strengths and weaknesses while preparing for the exam, Pranav said, “I am in the habit of creating a balance between both of them through firm determination.”
A chilled out person by nature, Pranav follows hobbies like singing, dancing, and creative writing. Pursuing law was always his first preference and through his legal acumen, he wishes to serve to the society in future.
CLAT 2017 was conducted on May 14 by Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna. On the basis of CLAT scores, candidates can secure admission in UG as well as PG law programmes offered at participating universities and colleges. Once CLAT results are declared, seats in law courses are provided via centralised counselling process conducted by CLAT authorities.
