CMAT 2024 exam guidelines

It is important to be well prepared for CMAT 2025 exam. And by saying well-prepared, we don’t just mean last minute preparation for the CMAT exam or how to manage time. We also mean, be prepared for he exam as per NTA guidelines. CMAT 2025 test takers must know what documents they have to carry to the exam centre apart from the CMAT 2025 admit card. They also need to know what items to not carry to the CMAT exam centre. Strict rules will be followed at the test centre and no candidate will be allowed to enter without presenting the CMAT 2025 admit card, valid ID proof and frisking or those who flout rules.

CMAT 2025 admit card has already been released and it has important guidelines mentioned on it. The CMAT 2025 exam will be conducted on January 25, 2025 in two slots. In order to avoid any hassle on the exam day, you need to make an exam day checklist. Here's what you need to do:

CMAT 2025: Exam Day Check List

Here’s a list of necessary documents and other items that aspirants must carry to the CMAT 2025 test centre. The list also consists of some dos and don’ts to help candidates understand the rules and regulations to be followed on the exam day.

1. CMAT Admit Card 2025

Make sure to carry an A4 size printout of the CMAT 2025 admit card. Entry to the examination hall will be on the basis of admit card and valid ID proof. CMAT 2025 admit card contains the following details:

  • Name
  • Roll number
  • Date of birth
  • Exam date & time
  • Address of exam centre
  • Reporting time
  • Photograph

Candidates will have to paste their recent passport size photographs on the admit card. Also, check the following details on the CMAT admit card 2025.

  • Reporting Time at Centre
  • Gate Closing time of Centre
  • Date of Examination
  • Shift and Timings of Test
  • Venue of Test

2. Documents for Identification at CMAT Exam Centre

CMAT aspirants need to carry their recent photo identification documents. The name and other details on the document must be the same as on CMAT admit card 2025. Given below is the list of photo ID cards that are valid:

  • PAN card
  • Driving License
  • Voter ID card
  • Passport
  • Aadhaar Card With photograph
  • E- Aadhaar card
  • Ration Card

Candidates must also carry two passport size photographs (same as uploaded with application form) to be pasted on the attendance sheet at the CMAT test centre.

3. Documents NOT Acceptable as ID Proof at CMAT Centre

The ID proofs listed below will not be accepted by the CMAT examination authority as valid ID proof. Thus the candidates must not carry any of these:

  • ID Cards issued by Schools/ Colleges/ Universities/ Coaching Centres
  • Aadhar enrollment receipt without Aadhar Number 
  • Digital or photocopy of ID proofs

4. Certificates for Reserved and PwD Candidates

SC/ST candidates need to carry their caste certificates attested by a competent authority. Candidates belonging to PwD category need to carry Disability and Scribe certificates attested by a competent authority and report earlier than other candidates.

5. Personal Items to Carry

Aspirants are not allowed to carry personal items such as wrist watch, mobiles and calculators to the CMAT test centre as no electronic item is allowed inside the examination hall. Other personal items too have to be kept outside the examination hall. Stationary such as rough paper will be provided to each candidate for rough work inside the examination hall. There will be no arrangement to deposit personal belongings, so it’s better to carry only the CMAT admit card and photo ID to the exam centre.

6. Stationary to Carry

Candidates must carry a blue ballpoint pen for signing the attendance sheet. Candidates are also required to carry drinking water in transparent bottle. No other item is to be carried inside the exam centre as per the latest CMAT exam day guidelines printed on the admit card.

7. Reporting Time at the CMAT Exam Centre

Report to your allotted test centre by the reporting time mentioned on your CMAT 2025 admit card. The staff at the centre will check all the documents before letting you enter the centre. Entry gates will close 30 minutes before the exam start time, so make sure you reach your CMAT 2025 test centre before that. So please reach the venue on time mentioned on your CMAT admit card 2025.

Q:   How will I know the address of my CMAT exam centre?
A:
The address of CMAT exam centre will be mentioned in the admit card only, which means candidates will know the address of the CMAT test centre allotted to them only after they download their CMAT admit card. The exam authorities will not share the details of any exam centre before the release of CMAT admit card. The NTA however, releases city intimation slip before the admit card which contains the name of the city in which the test centre has been allotted. The city intimation slip is issued a week before the exam to allow candidates to make arrangements for the exam day. If any student belongs to a rural area and their test centre falls in a city, they can make arrangements beforehand if they know which city they have to go to for appearing in the exam.

Q:   What are important don'ts for CMAT exam day?
A:
All the key information and instructions mentioned in the CMAT admit card is to be followed by each candidate. To avoid any hassle at the exam centre, candidates must note the following: 1. Do not carry prohibited items such as bags, purses, pencil box, beepers, wrist watch, calculators, mobile phones, electronic devices, scanners, cameras, wireless/Bluetooth transmission or any such communication devices. 2. Don't wear jewellery made of metal, jackets, clothes with pockets, mehendi on palms and closed shoes. Socks are allowed inside it. 3. Don't wear goggles, caps & head gears, hoodies or jackets/shirts with pockets 4. Don't be late for the exam. The entry gates will be closed 15 minutes before the commencement of exam. So, reach the exam centre as per the reporting time mentioned on the CMAT admit card. 5. Don't cheat or indulge in mal practices. You will be disqualified if caught indulging in any such ACT. 6. Don't create a ruckus inside the test lab or disturb other candidates 7. Don't leave your seat until the exam duration gets over and the invigilator announces exit.
Q:   What are the items prohibited at the CMAT exam centre?
A:
No, any electronic item including the watch, mobile phone, ipad, calculator, watch, smartwatch, etc. Is not allowed inside the CMAT examination centre. Any candidate found carrying such an item inside the exam hall will be disqualified. Candidates can check time on the onscreen timer on their computer systems during the CMAT exam. Apart from electronic items, stationary other than a blue/black ball point pen, metal accessories or metal jewellery and eatables are not allowed. Caps & headgear, goggles, hoodies, shirt with pockets, pants with pockets and closed shoes are also not allowed inside the test centre. Any candidate found carrying any such item or pieces of paper will be disqualified from the exam. Candidates must not carry bags and other valuables, as CMAT exam centres do not have any provision of bag deposit.
Q:   What are the important dos of CMAT exam day?
A:
On the CMAT exam day, candidates have to follow certain guidelines which include reaching on time, cooperating with the exam centre staff, following instructions of the test invigilator and following the test navigation for solving the CMAT questions. There are some key dos and don'ts that candidates should follow on the CMAT exam day, which have been listed below: CMAT exam day dos: 1. Reach the examination centre at the reporting time mentioned on your CMAT admit card. 2. Carry two copies of the CMAT admit card, one photo ID card and passport size photos 3. PwD candidates should carry the relevant certificates and documents as prescribed by the examination authorities. 4. Carry a blue/black ball point pen for signing the attendance sheet 5. Carry personal drinking water, hand sanitizer, face masks and gloves 6. Cooperate with the test centre staff and follow instructions during entry 7. Use only the computer mouse to lock your answers. Do not touch the keyboard as it will lead to screen locking.
Q:   Will I be allowed to enter the CMAT exam centre if I reach after reporting time?
A:
Candidates will not be allowed to enter the CMAT exam centre after 7:30 AM in first slot and after 1:30 PM in second slot. Thus, candidates must ensure they reach their exam centre on time. Candidates cannot change their CMAT exam centre or slot if they are late. They will have to take the test at the allotted CMAT exam centre only which is why, it is important to download the CMAT admit card as soon as it releases. Candidates get ample time to make arrangements for the exam day, if their test centre is far off. CMAT 2023 exam was conducted in two slots - 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Reporting time for first slot was 7:00 AM and for second slot, it was 1:00 PM. However, the reporting time will be mentioned in every candidate's admit card. Candidates must also note that they can take the exam only at the centre mentioned on their CMAT admit card. They will not be allowed to enter the exam centre at any other exam venue. Thus, they must check the location of their exam centre before the exam day so that they know the requirements to reach the location on time on the exam day.
