TISSNET 2023 Online Assessment rounds is being held from April 13 to May 06, 2023. Tata Institute of Social Sciences conducts Extempore as well as Online Personal Interview rounds for shortlisted candidates, for admission to its postgraduate courses. Candidates who cleared TISSNET 2023 cut off will be required to attend extempore and PI rounds at TISS campuses in Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad and BALM, Chennai. During TISSNET online assessment, TISS lays special emphasis on candidates’ social awareness and their sensitivity towards complex issues. Thus, it is important for a candidate to understand the current socio-economic and geo-political scenarios as well as matters of cultural and political significance.  As per the reviews from shortlisted candidates who ahve appeared for the Online Assessments, the panel members are supportive and cordial with the candidates. TISSNET 2023 Online Assessments: Important Tips for Preparation

  • Candidates appearing for the extempore and OPI must be familiar with the programme they have applied for, and know the programme structure, learning areas, and about the institute. It will be easy for candidates to answer the question related to the course.
  • Candidates must stay updated with the latest events happening in relation to HR and LR in India and globally. Candidates must focus on reading newspapers and online articles.
  • Extempore and OPI assess the candidate's communication skills. Hence, candidates must practice on their communication skills by preparing the common interview questions. Candidates must be able to answer the panel member with confidence and speak clearly. 
  • Candidates must practice with the help of mock interviews to get ratings and feedback.
  • Candidates must ensure to have good listening skills. Good communication involves good listening also for effective communication between panel members and shortlisted candidates. 
  • Avoid using any non-verbal communication. Candidates must observe their body language such as eye contact, body posture, and hand gestures while talking to the panel members.
  • Candidates must not forget to review Detailed Application Form before appearing for the online interview. Candidates must ensure to be familiar with their academic background and other interests added in the DAF.
  • Candidates must ensure not to fake academic achievements. Be honest to speak about achievements and other accomplishments. Panel members can spot the lie which can lead to disqualification.
  • It is always better to end the interview by asking the questions to panel members. Asking questions can demonstrate the candidate's interest in the program.

What is Extempore Round?

TISSNET extempore is conducted to evaluate the candidate’s social aptitude and his ability to think critically and communicate effectively. Candidates will be given a topic to present a reflection on the same for a maximum of two to three minutes.

  • Duration of extempore for MA programmes, offered by the School of Management and Labor Studies, ranges between 20-30 minutes. This is followed by a personal interview round

What is Online Interview?

TISSNET personal interview round is being held in online mode. In this round, shortlisted candidates will have to interact with the panelist members. Students will be assessed on the basis of their interest, motivation, preparedness and baisc subject knowledge in which the candidate has graduated. TISSNET interview will also test the candidate's understanding pertaining to social factors.
