SMAT application process for MBA batch 2026-28 at Shiv Nadar University website has started. Early applications are being invited for MBA programme. Candidates can fill the MBA admission form at the university website. Candidates with GMAT/GRE-2021-25 or CAT (2021-25) or XAT/NMAT/GATE (2021-25) score can apply directly. Those who have not appeared for any of these exams, will have to take the SMAT. The SMAT 2026 date, timings and centre will be shared by the university after the candidate's form is accepted. What is SMAT?

SMAT or Shiv Nadar University Management Admission Test is an entrance exam conducted by Shiv Nadar University for admissions to its MBA, MBA Business Analytics and I-Global MBA programme. The comprehensive entrance test SMAT is conducted in online mode to shortlist candidates for admission. The varsity also offers admission based on candidate's score in CAT/XAT/NMAT/GATE/ GRE/GMAT exams. Such candidates are not required to appear for SMAT. The syllabus for SMAT exam is similar to the syllabus of other MBA entrance exams. That is, Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and Verbal & Reading Comprehension. Aspirants who plan to appear for SMAT, must study all the important topics included in these subjects.

SMAT application form is available at the university website. Candidates can create an ID by using name, email id and phone number. Then they have login to fill the application form and pay fees.

SMAT Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate must be a Graduate in any discipline with minimum 50 per cent aggregate or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Candidates awaiting their final year (bachelor's degree) result can also apply.
  • ICAI, ICSI, ICWA qualifiers are also eligible to apply for SMAT.

Q:   How to prepare for SMAT exam?
A: 

SMAT exam preparation will not require a lot of time if you already know the basics of Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning and Verbal & Reading Comprehension. You can refer to MBA preparation books to cover the topics of these subjects and practice a few SMAT sample papers and mock tests. If you prepare for 3 months diligently, you will be able to crack SMAT.

Q:   What is the difficulty level of SMAT exam?
A: 

SMAT is an easy exam. There is no pressure to score a high percentile as well. The SMAT cut off is usually around 60-70 percentile. Questions from VARC, DILR and Quantitative Aptitude are easy in nature and not complicated. SMAT exam does not have negative marking or sectional time limit so there is no added pressure. One can easily solve 60 questions in 90 minutes.

SMAT 2026: Admission Process

STEP 1: Application process

Aspirants can apply for SMAT 2026 exam by filling an online application form available on the official website. They will be required to pay a non-refundable application fees of INR 2,149. The application form is to be submitted before the deadline only then the candidate will be eligible to appear for SMAT.

STEP 2: SMAT 2026 Admit card

SMAT 2026 admit card will be made available for download at least a week before the exam date allotted to the candidate. Registered candidates will be informed about the exam schedule through official communication.  Every candidate must download their admit cards before the exam.

STEP 3: SMAT 2026

SMAT exam will have questions on English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning topics. Those who will pass SMAT 2026 will be shortlisted for the Personal Interview round. 

STEP 4: SMAT 2026 results

SMAT 2026 results will be shared with the test takers via mail. Test takers can check their results on the official website. Post the announcement of results, a merit list and PI schedule will be announced. Selected candidates will have to be present in person for PI to complete the screening process for admission.

STEP 5: Personal Interview

This session is conducted to evaluate candidate’s ability to handle various business situations.

Q:   How can I get admission in MBA programme at SNU without SMAT?
A: 

For admission to SNU MBA programme, an entrance exam score is mandatory. If a candidate wishes to not appear for SMAT, the university’s own entrance test, then they can apply through CAT/XAT/NMAT/GATE/ GRE/GMAT exam score. Only then their application will be accepted for admission.
