XAT score calculator is used to calculate the marks scored by a candidate in the XAT exam. The score is calculated using the number of correct and incorrect answers. Candidates also need to consider the penalty for unattempted questions while calculating their score.
The XAT score is different from the XAT percentile. The score shows the marks obtained in the exam, while the percentile shows candidate's relative performance compared with other test takers.

XAT Marking Scheme
The XAT marking scheme is used to calculate the raw score. Candidates get marks for correct answers and lose marks for incorrect answers. There is also a negative marking for unattempted questions beyond the specified limit.

How to Calculate XAT Score?
Candidates can calculate their XAT score by adding the marks for correct answers and subtracting the marks lost for incorrect answers. If more than eight questions are left unattempted, the penalty for additional unattempted questions is also deducted.
The XAT score calculator formula is:
XAT Score = Correct Answers - (Incorrect Answers × 0.25) - Unattempted Question Penalty
For example, if a candidate gets 60 questions correct and 10 questions incorrect, the score will be:
60 - (10 × 0.25) = 57.5 marks
If the candidate has more than eight unattempted questions, the applicable penalty for the additional unattempted questions will also be deducted.

Consider a candidate who attempts 70 questions. Out of these, 60 answers are correct and 10 answers are incorrect.

How Does XAT Score Convert to Percentile?

The percentile is calculated by comparing a candidate's rank with the total number of candidates who appeared for the exam.
The XAT percentile calculator formula is:
XAT Percentile = (Number of candidates - Rank of candidate) / Number of candidates × 100
For example, if 1,000 candidates appear for XAT exam and a candidate gets the highest score, 999 candidates have scored below that candidate. The percentile will be:
999/1000 × 100 = 99.9 percentile

XAT Cut Off for XLRI Admission
XLRI releases category-wise XAT cut offs for its MBA programmes. The cut-offs include overall and sectional percentile requirements for the Business Management and Human Resource Management programmes.
For XAT 2026, the overall cut-off for PGDM BM was 94 percentile for Engineering Male and Non-Engineering Male candidates, while it was 88 percentile for Engineering Female, Engineering Transgender, Non-Engineering Female and Non-Engineering Transgender candidates.
For PGDM HRM, the overall cut-off was 92 percentile for Engineering Male candidates. The cut-off was 90 percentile for Non-Engineering Male candidates, 87 percentile for Engineering Female and Engineering Transgender candidates, and 84 percentile for Non-Engineering Female and Non-Engineering Transgender candidates.
Candidates should check both the overall and sectional cut-offs while estimating their chances of getting shortlisted for XLRI.
