AIIMS PG 2020 exam was conducted today. Despite the protests and discomfort expressed by the students, the authorities were confident about conducting AIIMS PG 2020 without a glitch. So, how well did it go? Read here.
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has successfully conducted the entrance examination for admission to its postgraduate courses (MD, MS, DM, MCh and MDS). AIIMS PG 2020 is the first medical entrance test to be conducted amid the COVID-19 crisis. Its fellow aspirants tried to get the exam postponed, stating that it is not safe for them and others, but the authorities were confident about conducting the exam fluently. The admit card for AIIMS PG 2020 was released on June 5, giving candidates little time to make travel arrangements. The public transport has been greatly affected by the lockdowns. As a result, many students could not appear for this examination.

Another concern for many candidates was the declaration that they had to fill before entering the exam centre. Many feared that they will not be allowed to appear for the examination because of the details filled in the declaration.
However, the declaration was only a preventive measure. Those with any symptoms or those under mandatory quarantine were allowed to appear for the examination but were made to sit separately.
AIIMS PG 2020: How was it Conducted Amid COVID-19?
The examination started at 1 pm. However, students had started lining up in queues outside the AIIMS PG 2020 exam centre from 10 am onwards. One of the measures taken by the authorities was staggered entry to the exam centre. The exam centres were visibly less crowded. Social distancing was followed, barring a few instances.
The security staff and invigilators wore masks and face shields and were guiding the students. They were being handed a surgical three-ply mask after hand sanitisation.
AIIMS PG 2020 admit card was barcoded. Candidates had to scan it themselves on the barcode scanner to gain entry. The details of the seat and lab allotted to them appeared on the screen after the scanning was complete. However, their IDs were checked personally by the security personnel.
Registration process was also fairly easy. Frequent sanitisation and hand wash was a part of the registration process. They were then guided to their seats in the exam hall, where they sat maintaining six feet distance from each other.
As far as security and hygiene, AIIMS did a decent job in conducting the examination. However, the drawback was the inability of many candidates to appear for this exam due to various reasons. Some could not appear for the examination because of transportation issues while others were not comfortable with the idea of stepping out during an ongoing pandemic.

Glitches During the Examination
Being an online examination, AIIMS PG 2020 was expected to have a few technical issues. And barring a few instances, candidates claimed to have a smooth experience.
Candidates must note that this was the experience of the students in one exam centre. If the experience at some other centre of AIIMS PG 2020 was different from that stated above, candidates are welcome to share their experience in the comment section below.
AIIMS Delhi is expected to announce the result of the entrance examination in the second week of June. AIIMS PG result 2020 will be uploaded on the official website of the institute.
