NEET 2021 Student Reactions

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) was conducted on September 12 in an offline mode. This year, the exam received over 16 lakh applications, which is the highest in the past five years. The highest number of candidates, i.e. 58,017 has been registered in Jaipur whereas Kavaratti, Lakshadweep Islands had the minimum number of candidates. After the conclusion of the exam at 5 pm, Shiksha correspondents spoke to the test-takers to get their reactions in terms of the exam’s difficulty level, question types, topics and other aspects. Read the NEET 2021 student reactions here.

NEET 2021 was conducted in 3,855 centres in 202 cities across India and two international cities – Dubai and Kuwait. The exam was conducted in 13 languages in a paper-pencil based mode for a duration of three hours.

NEET 2021 Student Reactions

Take a look at the NEET 2021 students’ reactions below.

Ansh: This was my first NEET attempt. I found the difficulty level of the exam to be average. Since this was my first attempt, I found a number of questions to be tough and challenging. Firstly, the new pattern was time-consuming in terms of going through 200 questions and selecting 180 questions for attempting. I think the cutoff may be a bit higher than that of last year.

Vivek: The difficulty level was moderate. The questions were completely NCERT-based. Physics was the toughest section and the questions were lengthy. In Biology, the number of questions from the Ecology section was the lowest, which was around two to three. I was expecting at least seven to eight questions and had prepared accordingly. The Chemistry section was easy to moderate. Although the new pattern was time-consuming I had kept my strategy ready which helped me in completing the test on time. According to me, the cutoff will be higher than last year since the exam’s difficulty level was higher.

Akash: The difficulty level of the exam was moderate. The questions from Biology and Chemistry were easy. Physics was tough but the rest of the exam was easy to attempt. The new exam pattern did not bother me and I could attempt the expected number of questions.

Kunal: NEET 2021 was of average difficulty level. Physics was the toughest section whereas Biology was the easiest. Within Biology, Botany was a bit tough but Zoology questions were easy to crack. However, Zoology had a higher number of questions from the Class 12 syllabus. The chemistry section was also of easy to moderate difficulty level.

Amit: The exam was of easy to moderate difficulty level with Biology being the easiest. The number of Biotechnology questions was high. In Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry had a high weightage but questions from Physical Chemistry was lower than expected. In Physics, almost all topics were covered. The new exam pattern was difficult for time management.

Watch the NEET 2021 student reactions here:

The NEET 2021 exam pattern underwent a massive change this year. The total number of questions was increased to 200, but candidates had to answer only 180 questions. The three subjects, Physics, Chemistry and Biology were divided into two sections – Section A and Section B carrying 35 and 15 questions respectively. While all questions of Section A were compulsory for attempting, only 10 questions had to be attempted in Section B. As per the marking scheme, each correct question carried four marks and there was one mark of negative marking for each wrong answer. No marks were awarded or deducted for unattempted questions.
