The National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon start the online registrations for the NEET UG 2026 exam. The NTA has issued a document advisory asking candidates to update their Aadhaar Cards, UDID Card and Category Certificate before filling the NEET 2026 application form. The advisory clearly states that all candidates who want to apply for the exam need to ensure that their Aadhaar is updated with accurate and valid information. This indicates that Aadhaar is mandatory for NEET 2026 registration. Those who don’t have the document should apply for the same as the application form is expected anytime soon at neet.nta.nic.in.

NTA NEET 2026 Document Advisory: Is Aadhaar Mandatory for NEET?

Yes, Aadhaar Card is mandatory for NEET UG 2026. Candidates should get their Aadhaar updated before the application process starts. As per the NTA NEET 2026 Document Advisory, the Aadhaar must contain the below mentioned details-

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender
  • Photograph
  • Address
  • Biometric information (wherever applicable)

Apart from this, the document update advisory states that candidates should get their UDID Card (for PwD category) and category certificate updated to fill the NEET 2026 application form.

Why is Aadhaar Card Necessary for NEET 2026?

The NTA mandates that all NEET aspirants should get their Aadhaar updated to take the NEET application 2026. The updated Aadhaar will ensure smooth application process. The decision will help candidates who face difficulties in registration or biometric authentication. It will help the candidates in the following manner-

  • It will minimise the errors in NEET registrations, specially in the fields of name, address, date of birth and others.
  • It will negate the chances of duplicate registrations.
  • It will help in NEET Counselling as well as speeding up the admission process during the institute reporting.
Q:   What is the NEET registration date?
A:

The NEET 2026 registration process will start soon. The last date to complete the registration process will be a month after the commencement. Registration is the first step of application wherein candidates have to enter the basic details, validate the OTP and create password. In the NEET application process, candidates have to login with their credentials and then fill up the form, upload documents and pay the application fee of NEET 2026.

The NTA has not announced the NEET 2026 form dates as of now. The NEET UG 2026 registration is likely to begin in February. Eligible candidates will have to register and fill the online form within the prescribed dates to appear for the exam.

A:

Students can enroll for the NEET UG 2026 exam by filling out the application form. The NTA NEET form will be released along with the notification. Eligible students need to register for the exam and submit their applications. The NEET application fee needs to paid online with the form.

How to Fill Aadhaar Number on NEET 2026 Registration Form?

Candidates need to enter the UIDAI number on the application form of NEET 2026 in the following manner-

  • Visit the official website- neet.nta.nic.in.
  • Click on the new registration link.
  • Enter 12-digit Aadhaar number in the required field and authenticate.
  • Verify the auto-updated Aadhaar-linked information
  • Submit the form.

What happens if a candidate does not update Aadhaar?

Candidates who do not update their Aadhaar will face problems while filling out the NEET form. If there is change in candidate’s name, address or date of birth and the Aadhaar is not updated, then it will not reflect the latest information on the NEET application form. It will ultimately lead to authentication failure at the exam centre on the day of NEET 2026 exam.

Q:   What is the significance of APAAR ID for NEET UG registration?
A:

APAAR stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry. APAAR ID is a unique 12-digit code which acts as a permanent digital identity for students using which they can store their academic details such as mark sheets, scorecards, etc. NEET aspitants neeed to link their Aadhaar with the APAAR ID to register for the exam.

A:

Candidates can fill the NEET form using the process shared below-

  • Visit neet.nta.nic.in.
  • Click on the registration link.
  • Read the instructions carefully and acknowledge them.
  • Register for the exam and generate a password.
  • Enter the OTP to verify the details.
  • Log in with the registration details.
  • Fill the complete form.
  • Pay the registration fees.
  • Submit and save the page.
Q:   How many candidates registered for NEET 2025?
A:

As per the NTA, 22,76,069 candidates registered for NEET 2025. Out of these, 22,09,318 appeared for the exam. The number of NEET applicants exam reduced in comparison to the previous year.

How to Update Aadhaar for NEET?

Candidates need to follow the given process to get their Aadhaar updated for NEET exam-

  • Visit the UIDAI website- uidai.gov.in.
  • Click on ‘Update your Aadhaar’ link.
  • Go to the ‘Document update’ tab.
  • Upload the required documents to support the changes.
  • Download the updated Aadhaar.
  • Get its coloured printout.
