SC has issued notice on a petition which had contended that NEET SS pattern 2021 was notified with the exam remaining only two months away. Read to know more.
The Supreme Court has issued notice on a writ petition challenging the exam pattern of NEET SS 2021. The petition, filed by 41 postgraduate doctors from across the country, had sought the direction of the court to strike down the “abrupt” and “last-minute changes” made to the NEET SS 2021 pattern by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). While NEET SS 2021 dates were announced on July 23, changes in the exam pattern were introduced more than a month later on August 31, petitioners said. NEET SS 2021 is scheduled to be held on November 13 & November 14.
As per the current NEET SS pattern 2021 which has been in existence since 2018, 60 percent marks questions are asked from super-specialty while 40 percent marks from the general medicine. But in the recently introduced pattern, 100 percent marks questions will be from general medicine.

“Since 40 percent of questions were drawn from general medicine regardless of our specialty, we had the chance. But now there would be 100 percent questions from general medicine and this would be advantageous for those who are in general medicine,” Senior Advocate Shyam Divan was quoted as saying.
Petitioners hold the view that changing the exam pattern when candidates have only two month's time for the exam is not justified. A division bench of Justices DY Chandrachud and BV Nagarathna has posted the matter for September 27.
“All the 150 questions would be from the Curriculum of the Post Graduate Exit level of the primary feeder broad specialty subject,” the notification regarding the new pattern said.
NEET SS or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Super Speciality Courses) is conducted by the National Board of Education for admission to various DM/ MCh courses. NEET SS application form 2021 will be released on September 22. The last date to submit applications for NEET SS 2021 is October 12.
