BITS Pilani has announced the launch of the Kakatiya Rural Innovation, Technology, and Implementation Centre (KRITI-Centre), an initiative designed to inspire and empower students and alumni to drive meaningful social impact across India and beyond. This groundbreaking centre has been established through a generous $1 million endowment from esteemed BITS Pilani alumni Raju Reddy and his wife, Neerja Reddy, both dedicated change-makers with a strong commitment to rural development. Raju Reddy is a visionary entrepreneur, angel investor, board member, and former Chairperson of BITSAA International. Phanindra Sama former CEO and founder of redBus and an alumnus, is also helping shape the vision and strategy for the centre. He and Sarika,  his wife will also join Raju & Neeraja as founding donors for the centre. 

About KRITI-Centre

The KRITI-Centre will enhance BITS Pilani’s impact in social innovation by building on successful alumni initiatives like Sattva and Ashoka Changemakers. It will empower students and alumni to create sustainable solutions for rural challenges, foster value-based leadership, support high-impact ventures, and strengthen partnerships with nonprofits and social enterprises. The Centre also aims to build a collaborative community of faculty and alumni focused on technology-driven rural development.

We are profoundly grateful to Neeraja and Raju Reddy for their visionary support; their commitment is a powerful testament to their belief in the ability of BITS students and alumni to drive meaningful change."

Speaking on the development, Raju Reddy, Former Chairperson of BITSAA International, added, "For India to become an economic superpower, we believe that the districts of India have to become the engines of economic growth. We hope KRITI will help power the ideas and entrepreneur spirit of BITS students, its alumni and other talented innovators across the nation  to make meaningful impact at scale in rural India.

Establishing a Central Knowledge Hub for the BITS Community

Q:   How was BITS Pilani BTech placements?
A:

According to media reports, BITS Pilani campuses have recorded a rise of 32.62% in the median salary during the placements drive for the 2023 batch. BITS Pilani has not released the course-wise placement data for 2023. However, the median package offered during BITS Pilani placements for the 2023 batch stood at INR 30 LPA. Further, the overall average package offered was INR 30.37 LPA, during BITS Pilani placements 2023.

Q:   Is BITS Pilani good for placements?
A:

Yes, BITS Pilani has good record of placements for its BTech, MBA and MTech courses. The placements are going on for the Class of 2025. As of now, the highest and average package offered to the MBA BA students during BITS Pilani placements in 2025 stood at INR 21.6 LPA and INR 14.63 LPA, respectively. Further, the median package offered stood at INR 14.64 LPA. Earlier, the highest and average package offered to the MBA (Business Analytics) batch 2024 was at INR 27 LPA and INR 17.45 LPA, respectively.

Additionally, BITS Pilani recorded 90.09% placements for First Degree (FD) and 88.56% placements for Higher Degree (HD) courses in the academic 2022-2023. A total of 848 FD students registered for the BITS Pilani placements in 2023, of which 764 were placed in reputed companies.

To realize its ambitious vision, the KRITI-Centre will roll out a diverse range of initiatives. These include the launch of a dedicated Rural and Social Impact Club across all BITS campuses, tailored incubation and acceleration programs for nonprofit and social ventures, and an annual national showcase spotlighting student-led social innovations.

The Centre will also provide fellowships to nurture emerging leaders in rural and social impact. Additionally, it will embed socially relevant projects into academic curricula, create a central knowledge hub for the BITS community, and actively engage alumni, corporates, and government bodies to secure funding for sustainable, long-term initiatives. Importantly, the KRITI-Centre will play a key role in applying BITS-developed technologies to solve critical grassroots challenges.
