Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani is the oldest campus. It currently houses 13 departments and covers streams, including Pure Science, Applied Science, Humanities and Management. Unfiltered Insights from BITS Pilani Students

The problem with the crore-level packages at BITS Pilani is that the number of students that grab such packages are only a handful and such numbers are rare too.

Be very careful with the branch that you opt at BITS PIlani, because the average package for core roles (mechanical) sits between 15-18 LPA, while the average for IT and CSE roles is 25-20 LPA.

BITS Pilani's biggest reality check is not its placements, it's the Pilani town. No quick deliveries. No easy cab rides.

Hostel life at BITS PIlani isn't that pretty! Students living in the Meera Bhawan hostel have said that they had to deal with broken jet sprays, malfunctioning flushes and poor ventilation during peak summer heat.

The cost that nobody warns you about at BITS PILANI, the add-ons cost like fest fee is more than 1950 for some fests along with poorly coordinated events and lineups during mid summers.

Love BITS Pilani. Academics are tiring, but a great college to be in.

Placements: About 85% of the students in our course are placed. The rest generally go for further studies or end up doing something else. The highest package is offered by TRC, which was upwards of Rs. 2 crores, whereas the average package goes around 22-28 LPA. Top recruiters for my course, which is an integrated M.Sc. Economics are finance-related companies such as JPMC or Goldman Sachs. Almost all the students get internships due to the PS model in BITS Pilani.

Infrastructure: All the infrastructure related to academics is very well built and maintained. We have a huge, beautiful library and a lot of other facilities. Facilities for various sports such as Tennis, Hockey, Basketball, Football, Snooker, and various other sports, including the common ones, are available. The hostel and mess are not that great, but they serve well enough for all the students and are well-maintained.

Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and teach really well. Even though the curriculum is very interesting, the only thing is that academics are a little hard and take up a lot of time. The exam levels in mid-semester and end-semester are pretty difficult, and even the average goes high because of a lot of really smart students on campus.

Other: The reason I chose this course is that I am personally interested in finance, but I also wanted to do engineering. This course provided me with both, as it is a dual degree. There are events going on almost every week. We have three major fests, Apogee, Oasis, and BOSM. All the fests are really fun, and there is enough room for a lot of fun activities.

Placement percentage for CSE is 95%, PHOENIX is 85%, MECH is 70%, and CHEM is 75%. Top recruiters include Google, Amazon, Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, etc. (CS) Electronics companies such as Qualcomm, T&I, IBM, INTEL, NXP, MICRON, and AMD. Food quality is decent and better than most of the top-tier colleges in India. Classrooms are fully air-conditioned. A medical center is available for any emergency situation.

Faculty: Almost all teachers hold Ph.D. degrees, and some of them are from foreign universities. Professors are really passionate and helpful. The curriculum keeps modifying according to industry demands. Exams in any form of evaluation are always ongoing to maintain academic focus.

Other: I opted for this course because I was really interested in the chip and electronics industry and quantum computing, and a combination of Physics with CS or Phoenix will always provide me an edge. The complete year is full of events and fests, and all festivals are celebrated here. Three major fests take place: Weaves (Cultural), Quark (Tech), and Spree (Sports), along with two inter-hostel events. There are almost all sports facilities available with designated coaches too. Two forms of scholarships are available: Merit and Merit cum need.

Placements: BITS Goa has a strong placement record with around 80-90 percent placements overall, and higher in circuit branches. The average package offered is around 20 LPA, and the lowest package offered is approximately 17 LPA. The highest package offered is above 60 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course include Microsoft, Amazon, and Google. A large number of students also get internships through the practice school system, which means 100 percent of students get internships.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available throughout campus. Labs are of top quality. The library has a huge collection of books. There are AC classrooms. The library is open 24x7. Hostel rooms are of good quality. Washrooms and bathrooms are cleaned every day. The mess food is average. It has superb sports facilities. In-house, a medical center is present with a doctor 24x7.

Faculty: All teachers are helpful and knowledgeable. The teaching techniques of some teachers are questionable. The course curriculum is more relevant than that of other colleges. Semester exams are not that tough, but good preparation is important. The course curriculum is very student-friendly and focuses on concept-based learning.

Other: Fests in the college are an absolute banger. It gets top artists to perform every year. The campus crowd is one of the most diverse I have ever seen. A good alumni network is present. The campus is very beautiful and spacious. (Being able to live our college life).

Impressed by the campus, placements, and legacy of BITS Pilani.

Placements: Placements are doing really well, at the level of top IITs. The official average package for CSE is 44 LPA, according to Reddit sources. The campus has a cutoff barrier of 10–12 LPA, which means this is the minimum any company is allowed to offer, hence companies like TCS are debarred from coming for placements.

Infrastructure: Other than one hostel, the rest of the hostels are good. The new academic block is very well built, and most classrooms are modern. Labs and research facilities are all good.

Faculty: Exams are difficult, but the course curriculum is decent. They are trying to adapt to new methods, such as making engineering drawing digital, and have introduced some courses to counter mental pressure. Overall, the teaching staff are good, and the system of tutorials is very effective.

Other: Oasis is said to be the second-largest student-run fest after IIT Bombay’s Mood Indigo.

Placements: The college has an impressive 82 percent placement rate with an average package of 20–21 LPA, top recruiters like Google, Apple, Nvidia, DE Shaw, BGC, JPMC, and Morgan Stanley, mandatory two internships (unless opting for research internships), and roles such as SDE, quant analyst, consultant, ML engineer, and financial analyst.

Infrastructure: The campus offers excellent infrastructure including Wi-Fi-enabled labs, smart classrooms, AR-integrated lecture halls, an air-conditioned library, gym, sports facilities (badminton, tennis, basketball), and well-equipped hostels with AC common rooms, washing machines, CCTV, vending machines, parcel services, TV, table tennis, carrom, and high-quality, affordable mess food.

Faculty: The teachers are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable, with vast experience in their respective fields, and they teach exceptionally well. The student–faculty ratio is also good. The course curriculum is up to date and is revised every year to remain relevant. Since BITS is inspired by MIT, it follows an international, modern, and industry-oriented curriculum. The institute follows a continuous evaluation system, so the final exam carries relatively less weight, although it is still a major component. Only about 10 students out of a batch of 1,000 fail, resulting in a pass percentage of approximately 99 percent.

Other: I felt that BITS offers excellent industry exposure, and since I wanted to build a career in finance, I found the Integrated M.Sc. Economics program perfect for me as it allows me to study both Computer Science and Economics. The option to pursue a minor is something I truly wanted. The campus hosts wonderful events and one of the best fests in the country, along with a great peer group. It is located just 10 minutes from Dabolim Airport, and services like Blinkit are also available. There are two types of scholarships offered: MCN and merit-based, the MCN scholarship is relatively easy to obtain if the annual family income is below 15 LPA.

I'm too glad to be a part of my college. Everything is better here than at most colleges in India.

Placements: I'm in a dual degree, which means I'll know which B.E degree I'll get in the 2nd year (I'm in the 1st year). So, I don't know specifically about my branch placements, but I heard from seniors about placements this year. Placements are better than last year. In the CSE branch placements, the average package offered is more than 30 LPA, and in the IT domain, it is 23 LPA. In the electronics domain (not talking about any specific branch), it's 28 LPA.

Infrastructure: We have one of the best libraries across all BIT campuses, as I heard from campus exchange students. Labs are well-maintained and modern. Canteen is a personal preference, but it's decent. Classrooms are also well-maintained. Wi-Fi is a bit slow in some places, but if we use LAN (10 GB per day), then it has ultimate speed. The area outside the room gets cleaned 2 times in a day. Medical and sports facilities are also decent.

Faculty: Teachers here are very nice to approach, highly knowledgeable, experienced, and highly qualified. Many teachers here have studied abroad, and many are from IITs and NITs, like good institutions. Not my current course properly, but the B.E course I'll get in 2nd year will definitely make students industry-ready. Semester exams are too difficult as BITS has one of the toughest relative grading systems in India. It makes it difficult for students to get a good CGPA. The pass percentage varies with subjects.

Every year, about 30% of students admitted to Birla Institute of Technology and Science BITS Pilani programmes get semester tuition fee waivers ranging from 15% to 100% in the form of either merit or merit-cum-need scholarships worth INR 2 crore based on multiple parameters. BITS Pilani scholarships include merit scholarships and fee concessions. These scholarships are offered across both first-degree and higher-degree programmes. The details regarding the same are given below:

BITS Pilani Scholarships (Based on BITSAT-2026 score)

For the AY 2026-27 onwards, BITS Pilani has introduced a new scholarship scheme called the 'Tuition-blind admissions' for the top 500 BITSAT rankers. Under this category, candidates with an annual family income of up to INR 20 lakh will get a full tuition fee waiver for all four years. This is valid for students who will have a minimum CGPA of 7.5 at their respective campuses.

Board toppers: Candidates who have secured the top position in Class 12 are given a merit scholarship of 50% of the first year's tuition fee. The minimum overall aggregate of the candidate must be 90% or equivalent in the qualifying exam to avail the scholarship.
Merit in qualifying examination: Candidates are awarded merit-based scholarships based on the marks obtained in the qualifying degree/ exam.
Institute's own merit or merit-cum-need awards for students: Every year, 25% of students getting admission to the BE, BPharm and MSc courses get a semester tuition fee waiver in the form of merit or merit-cum need scholarships as tabulated below. The scholarship percentage varies from 10 to 100%.
