- The GATE 2026 exam for admission to ME/MTech and PhD courses has concluded. Results are scheduled for release on Mar 19, 2026.
- The IIT JAM 2026 exam is now over for admission to the MSc course, with the results expected to be announced on Mar 20, 2026.

IIT Roorkee offers a four-year BTech programme across 11 specialisations along with a five-year integrated BTech + MTech programmes across two specialisations. The BTech course is the flagship programme of IIT Roorkee. The selection of candidates for the IIT Roorkee BTech programme is based on their JEE Advanced score. To be eligible for the same, aspirants must have completed their Class 12 with a valid score.
The centralised counselling process is managed and regulated by the JoSAA, based on which the candidates are allotted seats. The IIT Roorkee cutoff 2024 has been released for Round 5 for BTech, Integrated BTech and BArch courses in the form of opening and closing ranks. As per cutoffs 2024, JEE Advanced rank is 19885 for the IIT Roorkee BArch course for General AI category. For female candidates in the general category under the All India quota, 19354 was the closing rank.

IIT Roorkee has an active Training and Placement department that facilitates all types of placement-related activities. The Internship drive at IIT Roorkee for pre-final year students starts from August every year. PPTs and Tests of the placement drive begin from the last week of September. In addition, IIT Roorkee placement interviews start from the first week of December.
IIT Roorkee placement process 2026 is ongoing and will conclude between April and May, 2026. During the first two days of Phase 1 placements 2026, more than 500 offers were made out of which 8 were international offers. Top recruiting sector included Core Engineering, Sustainability, Semiconductor Tech, AI and Data Analytics. Leading recruiters were Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Texas Instruments, DE Shaw, Flipkart.

In the year 2015, the highest package offered was 25 Lacs per annum and the average package was 10.55 Lacs per annum. This year the highest placement for ECE is 16 LPA. The placement drive is still going on, so stats may fluctuate. In the year 2016, 88% students were placed last year. 12% placed in the core companies, 87% got placed in software companies and remaining 1% got placed in finance, analytics and consulting. IIT Roorkee offers admission to the Bachelor of Technology (Computer Science and Engineering) programme through the JEE Main entrance exam. The highest amount of scholarship is offered under the MCM scholarship. In this scholarship IIT Roorkee offers various benefits. A student availing MCM scholarship will get INR 1,000 per month for 10 months per academic year and refund of the remaining tuition fee.

IIT Roorkee admission to its flagship courses BArch and BTech is based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced Counselling. For admission, students are required to apply for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced for admission to IIT Roorkee BTech. No, you cannot apply for B.Des programme at IIT Roorkee even if you have cleared the UCEED Entrance Exam because Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are compulsory subjects in 10+2. But you can apply for B.Des programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore.

IIT Roorkee doesn't offer PhD in Design course through CEED. It only offers a MDes in Industrial Design. Admission to the M.Des programme will be based on CEED 2026 merit rank. The candidate will have to apply directly to the participating college once results are declared.

IIT Roorkee is not considered very expensive relative to private institutions, but it is costly. The course fees of numerous programs fluctuate from INR 1,000 - 10,70,500, depending on the selected course. But it offers great placement opportunities to its students.
