CLAT 2025 Merit List: The Consortium of NLUs today published the CLAT First Merit List 2025. Candidates can check the NLU-wise CLAT 2025 first merit list by visiting the official website; i.e. consortiumofnlus.ac.in.Only those candidates who have completed their CLAT 2025 Counselling Registration on or before May 21, 2025 will be allowed to appear in the CLAT Counselling Rounds.

Candidates can accept or upgrade the allotted seat on or before May 30, 2025. Candidates also have the option to FLOAT their allotted seat but they still have to pay the fee so that they can be considered for an upgraded seat in the next round of the CLAT 2025 counselling process.

CLAT 2025 Counselling: What is Freeze, Float & Exit Option?

One of the biggest questions that people have is: "What do Freeze, Float, and Exit actually mean?" Well, let’s try to break it down in a way that actually makes sense.

Freeze – Locking What You Got

Basically, this option is like saying “I’m happy with the seat I got. I don’t want to try for a better one." If you Freeze your seat, it means you accept the current seat allotment and don’t want to go through any more rounds.

Use this option if:

  • You got your first preference NLU
  • Or you're just okay with what you got and don't want to risk losing it

Once you freeze, that’s it. No upgrades, no changing later. You're locked in.

Important: You still gotta pay the counselling fee and follow the admission steps of that NLU.

Float – Still Hoping for Better
If you choose Float, it’s like saying “Okay, I’ll take this seat for now, but I still want to see if I can get a better one later.” This option keeps you in the race for a higher-preference college in the upcoming counselling rounds.

Use this when:

  • You got an NLU but not your top choice
  • You don’t mind upgrading if something better comes along

But you have to pay the counselling fee (INR 30,000 for Gen/OBC, INR 20,000 for SC/ST/PwD/EWS) to keep your seat and stay in the next rounds. Otherwise, it’s considered that you’re not interested anymore.

Exit – Leaving the Process

The Exit option is basically you saying “No thanks, I don’t want the seat I got, and I’m not interested in the CLAT admission process anymore.” Maybe you got into a private law school, or you're gonna drop this year and try again. Either way, choosing Exit pulls you out of the system. Once you exit, you won’t be able to come back later and change your mind. It’s final.

Be careful with this one. A lot of students click it by mistake thinking they can “exit” one round and try in the next. Nope. Exit means full goodbye to CLAT 2025 admissions.
