The CLAT 2027 Registration is ongoing from August 3, 2026. The last date to submit the application form is October 31, 2026. Candidates can fill their CLAT 2027 Application Form on consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Students should have a valid email ID and mobile number to complete registration. CLAT 2027 will be conducted in a single shift on December 6, 2026. This national-level law examination will be held in pen-and-paper mode.

What is CLAT Exam?

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national-level entrance exam conducted for admission to 26 NLUs out of 27. The NLU Delhi conducts its own entrance exam, i.e. All India Law Entrance Test (AILET). Apart from NLUs, the exam scores are also accepted by many private law schools in the country.

Q:   What is the purpose of the CLAT exam?

The key objective of the CLAT is to act as a merit-based entrance examination for admission to Under Graduate (5 years Integrated LLB) as well as Post Graduate (LLM) courses conducted by the prestigious NLUs in India.

Q:   Can I get admission in NLUs without clearing CLAT Exam?
A: 

No you can not get admission to 26 participating NLUs without clearing CLAT Exam. For admission to NLU Delhi, you need to clear AILET Exam. 

Q:   How many questions are there in CLAT Exam?

In CLAT Exam there will be 120 questions. The exam paper will be in MCQ format. Candidates will get 120 minutes to complete the paper. Since there is a negative marking candidates must attempt carefully.

Q:   How many times CLAT is held in a year?
A: 

The Consortium of National Law Universities conducts CLAT only once a year. The exam is usually held on the first Sunday of December.

CLAT 2027 Eligibility & Application Process

Candidates must meet eligibility criteria for admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The Consortium will cancel the application at any stage if all the required eligibility requirements are not met. Check the key CLAT eligibility criteria below.

For UG admission

  • Candidates should clear Class 12 with a minimum 45 per cent aggregate (applicable for candidates belonging to General/ Other Backwards Class/ Person with Disability/ Non-Resident Indian/ Person of Indian Origin/ Overseas Citizen of India
  • Candidates should clear Class 12 with a minimum 40 per cent aggregate (applicable for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (ST) category)
  • Candidates appearing for their Class 12 board examinations in March/April are also eligible to apply.

For PG admission

  • Candidates should have a recognised LLB degree (3-year or 5-year integrated) or an equivalent law degree with a minimum 50 per cent aggregate (applicable for candidates belonging to General/ Other Backwards Classes)
  • Candidates should have a recognised LLB degree (3-year or 5-year integrated) or an equivalent law degree with a minimum 45 per cent aggregate (applicable for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (ST) category)
  • Candidates in the final semester/year of their LLB are also eligible to apply.

How to fill CLAT Application Form 2027?

Candidates can check the complete application process below

  • Go to consortiumofnlus.ac.in   
  • Click on the CLAT 2027 tab

  • Select register

  • Enter your name, mobile number & email ID

  • Verify your mobile number using the OTP sent to your phone and set a password

  • Re-login, select the program of study, 5-year LLB or one-year LLB

  • Start by entering personal information, communication details, qualifying examination status, exam centre preferences and reservation.
  • Once the details are duly filled, agree to the declaration, give consent and submit the form.    
  • Pay the application fees

Q:   How will I know if I am eligible to appear in CLAT exam or not?
A: 

In order to know if you are eligible or not check the official notification and the eligibility criteria. There is no other way to check the the eligibility criteria.  Do not fill the form without checking the eligibility criteria. 

Q:   I forgot to submit CLAT Application Fees. What should I do?
A: 

Even with all the right documents, if you have not paid the application fee, your application form will be rejected. Since the application process cannot complete without submiting the fees. Once the window closes you won't be able to pay the fees or re fill the form. 

Q:   What is the last date to fill CLAT Application Form 2027?
A: 

The Consortium has announced the last date to submit the CLAT Application Form as October 31, 2026.

Q:   Can I fill CLAT Application Form offline?
A: 

No, there is no such provision given by the Consortium to fill out the application form offline. Candidates must complete filling the CLAT Application Form 2027 on or before the last date. You can only fill out the application form online. The form will be considered submitted only if you pay the fees.

The CLAT exam duration is two hours for both the Undergraduate and Postgraduate. It will have 120 multiple choice questions. For each correct answer one makrs will be given and -0.25 will be deducted for incorrect ones.

The CLAT 2027 UG syllabus includes five subjects: English Language, Current Affairs & GK, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. The exam will be for 120 MCQs. Candidates will get 2 hours to complete the exam.

The Consortium is expected to release the CLAT admit card at least 15 days before the exam. Students can generally download their hall ticket until 1:30 pm on exam day.

Steps to download CLAT Admit Card

Students can download the CLAT hall ticket 2027 by following the process given below 

  • Visit consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
  • Click on the admit card download tab displayed on screen.
  • You will be redirected to the login window.
  • Enter registration/application number and date of birth.
  • The admit card will appear on screen.
  • Read all the details printed on it carefully.
  • Take a printout of the CLAT admit card.

No, the CLAT Admit Card 2027 is not out yet. The admit card will likely be released on November 15, 2026. The official schedule has not been announced yet. 

Q:   How to make changes in CLAT Admit Card?
A: 

There is no option to make changes in the CLAT admit card. Details printed on the candidate's hall ticket will be final and non-editable. Incase, there is any error in the details mentioned on the CLAT admit card, like name or roll number of the candidate., etc. then that can be rectified by contacting the CLAT help desk.

Q:   Can the exam centre be changed after the release of CLAT admit card?
A: 

Once the CLAT admit card is released, candidates cannot change their allotted exam centre. There is no provision for altering the test centre at any stage, making it crucial to carefully select test cities when filling out the CLAT application form. It is advisable to choose a city that is either your hometown, a city you are likely to be in on the exam day, or a nearby city where you can reach easily.
