Every year, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted National Entrance Test (NET) on behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC) to shortlist candidates for the posts of only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor. However, the government has now replaced the board with the newly formed National Testing Agency (NTA), which will conduct the teaching exam starting from December 2018.
The National Testing Agency has not yet released UGC NET syllabus for December 2018 exam. It may be noted that UGC NET is conducted for a total of 94 subjects and there is different syllabus for each subject. Check subject-wise syllabus for UGC NET conducted by CBSE here. Candidates can also check UGC NET syllabus for their particular subject on the official website of the exam (https://www.ugc.ac.in/net/syllabus.aspx).
Also, candidates can have a quick glance of UGC NET syllabus for Paper-I (General Paper on Teaching & Research Aptitude) below:

It is important here to note that till 2017, candidates had to appear for three different papers (Paper I, II, and III) in order to be eligible for being awarded JRF and Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor only. However, in 2018 CBSE changed the UGC NET exam pattern. Currently, UGC NET consists of two papers (Paper I, II) conducted in two sessions. Candidates have to appear for both the papers in order to be eligible for JRF and Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor only.
The official website of CBSE informs, “Paper I is designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate." The website further states, "All the questions of Paper II will be compulsory, covering entire syllabi of earlier Paper II & Paper III (including all electives, without options)."
Central Board of Secondary Education last conducted UGC NET on July 8, 2018 in a total of 91 cities across India.
Next, the teaching exam is likely to be conducted from December 2 – 16, 2018. Also, registrations for the same are expected to commence from September 1, 2018.
