An Overview of VIT Vellore.

Placements: Placements in VIT are good as compared to other private colleges, as it provides a mean or average package of 9 to 10 Lacs. Last year, in 2023, the highest placement was 1.3 crores, and some of the brightest or cream students get a stipend for internships as well.

Infrastructure: The course at VIT Vellore is quite up to date compared to other colleges. We can compare the curriculum with some government colleges, and the labs are well-equipped. If we talk about hostels, we can get a wide range of hostels with three types: deluxe, non-AC, and AC rooms. The same applies to the mess: veg, non-veg, and special.

Faculty: Most of the faculty members are foreign graduates and Ph.D. holders with a well-trained way of teaching and experience. Exams are conducted in three steps: CAT 1, CAT 2, followed by FAT. CAT stands for Continuous Assessment Test, and FAT stands for Final Assessment Test. CAT is conducted for one-third of the syllabus, and FAT is for the whole semester, just like end-sem exams.

Other: The campus is good with great infrastructure and space, but one thing that is not very good is the crowd at VIT Vellore, which is much higher compared to other private colleges.

Good connections are important. Stay focused on your goals and prioritize practical knowledge.

Placements: Approximately 70% of students were placed. The highest salary package offered was 2 crores per annum, the average salary package offered was 6 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 3 LPA. Top recruiters included Amazon, Microsoft, Brain, Commvault, ZS Associates, TCS, Cognizant, Bank of America, and Airtel. About 10% of students secured internships. Roles offered were software engineer and data engineer.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is good but gets disconnected around 12:30 AM. Wi-Fi in the labs is excellent. Hostel facilities are nice, and the food is good, depending on the type of mess you choose, it's better to opt for the special mess. There is a small hospital inside the campus, but no professional doctor is available. In case of an emergency, you can visit CMC Vellore, which is around 5 km from the campus. Sports facilities are excellent, and you can access a badminton court inside your hostel.

Faculty: Curriculum is very hectic, making it difficult to focus on developing your skills separately. However, you have the option to choose your faculty as well as your timetable through FFCS, which stands for Fully Flexible Credit System. Teaching quality depends on your selected faculty members, typically, you can expect average teaching. Semester exams in college are moderately challenging, so you cannot expect very tough questions. Overall pass percentage is 50%, and you need to score at least 40 out of 100 to pass.

Other: I chose this course because I aspire to become a software engineer and have a passion for coding. The best part is that if you possess problem-solving skills, you can apply them by writing code, which is exactly what the IT course enables you to do. Focus should be on practical knowledge and its application. If you succeed in doing so, congratulations—you are on your way to becoming a good engineer. College fest is very enjoyable, but the crowd can be a downside. However, you can build many connections if you are extroverted and actively engage in clubs and chapters. Scholarships are available based on your rank—if you rank within the top 800, you are eligible for a scholarship of Rs.1 lakh, subject to terms and conditions.

How to apply for direct admissions in B.Tech at VIT, Vellore, on the basis of 12th marks?

It's not possible. In order to get admission in any of the B.Tech programmes you need to appear for VITEEE exam and upon good rank you have to take part in counselling to get admission.

JEE Mains is not considered in here. You' have a different test to give. There is a cutoff for that, if you pass, you'll get in.
