IITR- One of the best college for Polymer Science.
Placements: Placements are really good. However, very fewer polymer companies visit the campus as most of the students wish to go to other fields. Whoever wants a job get one. Students who are interested in polymer goes for higher studies, mostly foreign universities. Internship opportunity too is provided by the college or you can arrange on your own but is mandatory.
Infrastructure: One of the best infrastructure in India. The polymer branch of IIT Roorkee is the best in the country. The labs have all types of equipment. All the research facility is available there. There is everything hostel, Wi-Fi LAN, Medical facility, Mess, Sports Complex and all the facility you can imagine.
Faculty: Faculty members are really good. Some of the faculty members are known all over the globe. But some of the faculty members just read slides. You will have a chance to visit a lot of polymer industries across India. The course curriculum is as per international level and used as a checklist for other institutes of our country.

The placements are bad in the year 2017.
Placements: My branch is new to the main campus. Our batch will be the first one to be graduation from the main campus. Earlier, the branch was in Saharanpur campus of IIT Roorkee. So, all the students of Polymer Science had to stay there which was very disappointing for all of them. Now, about the scope of the core in this branch, it has good scope overall. But the thing is that companies aren't coming for placements in the core area because they don't know yet about this branch. Apart from this, the placement of non-core is stupendous. In this year, the placement of IIT Roorkee was 2nd best, after Bombay. The highest package I guess was 45 LPA.
Infrastructure: This is the area where I think IIT Roorkee is the best. The infrastructure is just amazing. Everything is set up and organised so that you'll love it. The main building seems to be a tourist attraction (not sarcasm). We used to have classes in the lecture hall complex, but now, a new LHC has been constructed beside it. So, the classrooms and labs are top class. There is an institute hospital as well. The canteens are fine, as they are in every other IIT.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified, that's why they are teaching here. The teaching quality is fine. It's up to you how much you gain from it. Some teachers are in fact very much helpful. They might get you an internship as well. So, do make good contact with them. You'll benefit.
Other: Apart from all these, we have two fests. The cultural fest thomso and the tech fest cognisance is there. The three days of the cultural festival are the best days of the year. You'll just know what I am talking about after coming here.

All the information about my college.
Placements: The placements were average for my senior batch. Approximately 80 percent of students were placed. The average package was of 8 lacs per annum. The companies like Reliance, ExxonMobil, Schlumberger, etc. used to participate in placement. The internship scenarios were also the same as placement.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was good at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. Approximately everything was available at this college like sports, Wi-Fi, LAN, library, hospital, railway reservation counter, labs, student activity centre, indoor sports facility, students club. All classrooms and labs are in good condition. Every Bhawan has its own canteen and also institute and sports centre. The canteen serves good quality of food. The hostel rooms are average. I did not face any infrastructure related issues during my tenure at this college.
Faculty: All the faculty at this college are well educated and experts in their field. They were very helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. They teach via presentation or by using boards. The faculty to student ratio was good enough for you to learn. The college and faculty also provide industry exposure via field trip, industry trip and by telling us about them. Experts developed the course curriculum carefully, which is very useful.

IIT Roorkee- Going strong since 1847
Placements: Placements were quite good with most of the batch getting placed.
Students with decent CGPAs do not necessarily get the best placements and vice versa.
Packages have been quite competitive by undergraduate standards and IIT Roorkee has seen a number of amazing companies recruiting.
Infrastructure: There is no doubt that IIT Roorkee enjoys some of the greatest infrastructure and facilities that there could be in any institute.
Its infrastructure is comparable to some of the top universities in the world.
It has world-class sports facilities and medical help is always available to its students. Wi-Fi is quite good too.
Faculty: Faculty members are masters in their own field and enjoy a cordial relationship with their students.
The course curriculum is constantly updated to ensure that students of IIT Roorkee get the best education possible all over the world. New courses keep adding up to accommodate industry requirements.

Bad placement season for us.
Placements: Only 1 student from the final year batch of my branch got placed this year, that too not in a core company.
No core companies for our branch came for campus placements in our college.
He got placed in ZS Associates for a marketing post.
He has been offered Rs. 8 lakh per annum.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is amazing,
We have a wide range of facilities available.
There are grounds and courts for many sports. Along with that, we also have a student hobbies club building where all sorts of recreational activities are available for students.
Also, we have canteens, a Nescafe and a CCD in our campus.
Faculty: All the faculty members in our college are people who have years of experience in the corporate or in the research world.
The faculty members are very helpful. They are always available for students willing to learn. They also include students into their research work which helps us learn a lot.
The course curriculum for us is very thoughtfully designed to help us imbibe important skills we will need as a polymer engineer.
Other: Indian Institute of Technology is a tag which helps you in a lot of ways.
The alumni network and the seniors are a big plus for us.
The environment here is most appropriate for learning and developing new skills.
Not only for your core subjects, but also for competitive exams, you can find great help from your batchmates, seniors and also juniors.

Life of a polymer science and technology student.
Placements: Placements in the year 2017 were not good. Many of the students chose off-campus, non core companies, as not a single core company (for Polymer specialization) visited the campus. But in the coming year 2018- 2019, we expect a healthy placement scenario as the new batches will be passing out from the main campus. Previous batches were from Saharanpur Campus.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure in the Saharanpur campus which ran polymer and process engineering is the best that any IIT could provide, as we have proper labs, classrooms, a good library, sports complex. The only thing which lacks are the students. Due to closing down of the campus in year 2015, polymer freshers were shifted to the main Roorkee campus, while the batch which came in 2014 stayed in the campus (they are expecting a campus change in the upcoming semester). Due to the campus shift, the campus lacks healthy competition and activities.
Faculty: All the faculty members have their PhDs from reputed foreign institutes. There is not a single problem with the faculty of polymer sciences. Also, they are very supportive. The course curriculum is not at its best, as the faculty members think more could be added to the curriculum to make this course a success.
Other: IIT Roorkee is the only IIT which runs this course and the students who have their interest in polymer science can definitely opt for this stream, as this branch will be a successful branch in upcoming years. If someone who just wants to get into IIT can also opt for this branch as it is not necessary that in the end of your course you will be opting just for core.
