CEED Exam is conducted by IIT Bombay. It is for M.Des programmes. The exam will be conducted in 27 cities across India. Candidates are required to dress modestly for the test centres. Rugged Jeans, Flashy logos, Chunky shoes, Jewellery, etc should be avoided. Candidates should not put henna or any type of color on their hands.

IIT Bombay will conduct the CEED Entrance Exam on January 17, 2027. Applicants who will appear for the exam must dress decently to ensure the frisking process goes smoothly. IIT Bombay has released guidelines for CEED exam day. Check the CEED dress code and list of items to be carried and not to be carried at IIT CEED exam centre.

Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) will be conducted by IIT Bombay on January 17, 2027. CEED exam will begin at 9 AM and will end at 12 PM. Students can report at 7 AM to the CEED Centre. It will be mandatory to bring the CEED Hall ticket and a Photo ID proof to write the exam. More information will be published by CEED on the website a day before the exam. Seating arrangement will be displayed in the examination centre.  All the details about the exam day were also mentioned in the CEED Brochure.

Is there a dress code for the IIT CEED Exam 2027?

No, there is no dress code given by IIT Bombay for the CEED 2027 Exam day. Candidates must dress decently and appropriately for the CEED 2027 exam.  They should keep in mind traditional and community norms. They should avoid flashy logos, prints, chunky jewellery, and makeup on exam day. Candidates are not expected to dress in a way that may disturb the exam environment.

Q:   Can I change the CEED 2026 exam centre allocated to me?
A: 

Note that once an exam centre has been allocated, there is no scope to change it. In fact, CEED officials will not entertain any requests for a change in the exam centre. 

The details of the exam centre allocated to the candidate will be mentioned in the CEED 2026 admit card. The allotment of CEED 2026 exam centre will done on the basis of the exam city seelcted by the candidate. Exam officials will also consider other factors like the address of the candidate and seat intake available in various exam centres in that particular city.

Q:   Can a CEED 2026 exam city be dropped from the final list?
A: 

IIT Bombay will release the exam cities for CEED 2026. The list can be found in the CEED 2026 Information Brochure. In the previous edition, the design entrance exam was held in 27 cities.

Note that exam officials have the authority to drop a city in some cases.

“If a sufficient number of candidates are unavailable in a city, that city may be dropped from the final list, and candidates will be allotted to a city of their second or third choice.”

Q:   What will be the mode of the CEED exam?
A: 

CEED exam has two sections Part A and Part B. Part A will be conducted in online mode and Part B will be conducted offline. Part A will have three sections, NAT, MCQ and MSQ. Part B will include drawing based questions only. Part A is of 150 marks and Part B is of 100 marks.

Q:   What are the acceptable identity proofs for CEED exam?
A: 

On the day of the CEED exam, the candidate must bring with them the admit card and a valid photo ID proof. Without admit card, canddiates will not be allowed to sit in the exam.

The following documents will be considered as a valid ID.

  • College issued identity card

  • Passport

  • Driving license

  • PAN card, Voter ID

  • Aadhar card or printed e-Aadhar card

CEED Dress Code for Females

  • Wear something comfortable. It will be best if you go for formal clothes. You can also wear kurta, salwar kamiz, suit, etc.
  • Females should avoid wearing headgear or a scarf. They can wear a hijab.
  • Don’t wear items like scarves, stoles or other accessories that cover your head, unless it is for religious purposes.
  • Should avoid wearing rubber bands or clips in your hair. They can use a normal hair tie.
  • Avoid wearing any jewellery or accessories, anklets, bracelets, rings, etc.
  • Candidates should not have any henna or tattoos, as there will be a biometric impression at the centre.
  • Candidates can wear clothes as per the weather.
  • Candidates can opt for slippers or sandals with low heels for footwear.

  • Both male and female candidates can wear formal wear, like a shirt, trousers, and salwar kameez.
  • Avoid wearing a dress with lots of pockets, etcThis will raise suspicion, and you may be subject to a lot of frisking.
  • Closed-toe shoes can be an option. However, if you instead wear shoes with heavy heels or thick soles, you may face extra frisking.
  • Do not wear metallic items at the exam, eg, rings, bracelets, etc.
  • Make sure that whatever you are wearing does not have anything obscene, racial, or controversial.

Q:   What kind of stationery items I should carry to CEED 2027 exam centre?
A: 

The candidate will not be provided with any stationery at the exam venue. So, it is upon the candidates to bring these essential stationery items with them. Here are the basic minimum stationery items needed to take the CEED exam.

  • Pens

  • Pencils

  • Sketch pens 

  • Colours for the examination

However, note that sheets are not allowed inside the exam hall. 

Q:   Am I allowed to carry electronic gadgets inside the CEED 2026 exam hall?
A: 

No, candidates cannot take any electronic gadgets inside the CEED exam hall. Here is a list of items that the candidate must not bring to the exam hall.

  • Mobile phones

  • Calculators

  • Smart or digital watches, etc.

Any candidate found in possession of these items will be disqualified. 

Q:   If I fail to qualify Part A, will I be issued the CEED scorecard?
A: 

Score card of CEED will be issued to all candidates who will appear in CEED exam. So, even if you have failed to qualify Part A, you can download the scorecard.

But note that in this case, scorecard will only include qualifying status and Part A marks. Part B marks, Total marks and merit ranks will only be issued to qualified candidates. Candidates who have been assigned a merit rank can participate in the counseling process conducted by participating institutes.

Q:   In how many cities will the CEED 2027 exam be conducted?
A: 

IIT Bombay will conduct the CEED 2027 exam in 27 cities. Candidates should choose three cities in order of preference at the time of filling the registration.

What is the Reporting time for CEED 2027?

  • Candidates can report to the CEED examination centre from 7:00 am on Sunday, January 17, 2027. They must have a printout of the CEED Admit Card and a Valid Original Photo Identity Proof. The details of the exam timing will be mentioned in the admit card.
  • There will be biometric attendance at the test centre. Candidates will be required to record the biometric information (thumb impression and photograph) before appearing for the test. The thumb impressions will be verified again at the time of admission and therefore, candidates should make sure that the impression is clear.

Which documents should be carried for CEED 2027 Exam?

The candidate needs to bring the following documents with them.

  • CEED 2027 Admit Card
  • Photo ID proof

Any of the following documents will be accepted as valid photo ID proof.

  • Aadhaar card
  • Voter card
  • Passport
  • PAN card
  • Driving license

Note that the IDs should be in the original. Photocopies will not be accepted.

Can I carry Electronic Devices to the CEED exam centre?

Candidates should not carry any electronic devices (mobile phones, smart phones, watches of any type, calculators, tablets and the like), abacus, slide rule, log books, study material of any type, geometry box, and so on to the CEED examination centre

Stationery Items Allowed for CEED Entrance Exam

Candidates must bring their own pencils in a transparent packet or pouch. Pencils of black shades are allowed. Sketch pens, colour pencils, poster colors and other colouring materials are NOT permitted inside the examination hall. Exchanging and borrowing or sharing of these materials is NOT permitted inside the CEED examination centre.

  • Wallets, goggles, belts, handbags, caps, etc.
  • Wristwatch/watch, camera, bracelet, etc.
