IIT Bombay will be conducting the UCEED Entrance exam on January 18, 2026. The exam will begin at 9 AM and will end at 12 PM. The reporting time to UCEED Centre is 7 AM. Has UCEED prescribed any Dress Code for the Exam?
No, IIT Bombay has not prescribed any dress code for the UCEED 2026 Exam day. But this should not be misunderstood as candidates can wear anything they want. For the UCEED exam, candidates must dress decently and appropriately. They should keep in mind traditional and community norms. Candidates are not expected to dress in a way that may disturb the exam environment.

IIT Bombay may conduct any complementary seat allotment round for UCEED counseling only if there are vacant seats left after the five regular seat allotment rounds. Note that, IIT Bombay will conduct FIVE seat allotment rounds. The seat allotment will be based on the merit rank of the candidate in UCEED 2026 and campus selected at the time of counseling registration. Candidates who qualify in UCEED 2026 exam can participate in counseling.
The counseling for UCEED 2026 will be held as a Joint Seat Allotment process. The participating institutes of UCEED 2026 can participate in counseling.
UCEED 2026 counseling will be conducted by IIT Bombay. The counseling process will have five rounds.
The Joint Admission Process will not have any spot rounds.
However, IITDM Jabalpur may conduct a spot round of admissions at the institutional level if there are any vacant seats after completion of the counselling.
UCEED Dress Code for Females
- Wear something comfortable. It will be best if you go for formal clothes.
- Females should avoid wearing headgear or a scarf.
- Don't wear rubber bands or clips in your hair. You can use a normal hair tie.
- Avoid wearing any jewellery or accessories.
- Candidates should not have any henna or tattoos, as there will be a biometric impression at the centre.
- Candidates can wear clothes as per the weather.
- Candidates can opt for slippers or sandals with low heels for footwear.
UCEED Dress Code for Males
Some of the suggestions for UCEED Dress code for Males.
- Both male and female candidates can wear formal wear, like a shirt, trousers, and salwar kameez.
- Avoid wearing a dress with lots of pockets, etc. This will raise suspicion, and you may be subject to a lot of frisking.
- Don’t wear items like scarves, stoles or other accessories that cover your head, unless it is for religious purposes.
- Closed-toe shoes can be an option. However, if you instead wear shoes with heavy heels or thick soles, you may face extra frisking.
- Do not wear metallic items at the exam, eg, rings, bracelets, etc.
- Make sure that whatever you are wearing does not have anything obscene, racial, or controversial.

Items Not Allowed: Electronic Devices
- Candidates should not carry any electronic devices (mobile phones, smart phones, watches of any type, calculators, tablets and the like), abacus, slide rule, log books, study material of any type, geometry box, and so on to the examination hall.
Stationery Items to carry to the UCEED Centre
Candidates must bring their own pencils in a transparent packet or pouch. Pencil of black shades are allowed. Sketch pens, colour pencils, poster colors and other colouring materials are NOT permitted inside the examination hall. Candidates may bring a writing board of A4 size. Exchanging and borrowing of these materials is NOT permitted inside the UCEED examination centre.
List of Banned Items at UCEED 2026 Exam Centre
- Textual items like bits of paper, plastic pouch, pencil/geometry box, pen, calculator, writing pad, scale, eraser, pen drive, log table, electronic pen/scanner, etc.
- Communication devices like Bluetooth, mobile phones, microphones, earphones, health bands, pagers, etc.
- Wallets, goggles, belts, handbags, caps, etc.
- Wristwatch/watch, camera, bracelet, etc.
- Any metallic items or ornaments
- Water bottles or any open or packed food items
Note: Candidates must know that authorities will provide no arrangement for keeping personal items or articles.

If you have biology as a subject in 10+2, then you can apply for B.Des programme at IIITDM Jabalpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore.
To apply at IIITDM, you need to have Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology subjects in 10+2.

No, you cannot apply for B.Des programme at IIT Roorkee even if you have cleared the UCEED Entrance Exam because Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are compulsory subjects in 10+2. But you can apply for B.Des programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore.
