Q: When should I start preparation for UCEED 2027?

Given that UCEED is one of the most important and the toughest design entrance exams in the country, one should not wait till the last moments to prepare for the exam. Ideally, the candidate should have at least an year to prepare for the exam. That being said, if the candidate has above average understand of the basics, he or she can easily prepare for the exam in six months. When preparing for the exam, it is important to have a target in mind. For example, the merit rank the candidate wants to achieve. Note that the cut-off rank varies from one institute to another.

IIT Delhi - B.Des Fee Structure

Additional Fees for B.Des IIT Delhi

In addition to the above, hostel residents are required to pay hostel-related charges, including Hostel Seat Rent @Rs. 8,600/-(non-refundable) each semester.
Thesis fee for M.S.(R) and Ph.D. is Rs. 500/- and Rs. 5,000/-, respectively and shall be payable at the time of submission of thesis.
All SC, ST & PwD students will get 100 % tuition fee exemption.
Hostel is available only to full time students, subject to availability.
Messing and electricity charges will be calculated on completion of each semester and will be notified separately.
To avail various financial benefits, students are advised to upload valid parental income documents on the scorner portal.

IIT Bombay usually doesn’t conduct any mock tests for the UCEED exam. So, the candidate may take mock tests conducted for other entrance exams to prepare for UCEED 2026 exam. However, it is not an exact replica of how the UCEED 2026 exam will be conducted.

Payment of Fees to Accept, Freeze, or Float during Counselling

To opt for UCEED B.Des Seat, any of the three options - accept, freeze, or float - the candidate had to pay the complete seat acceptance fee (no partial payment is accepted). If payment is not made, the allotted seat is canceled. Further, the candidate is not considered for seat allotment in any subsequent rounds.

Seat acceptance fee to be adjusted against institute fee: The fee will be adjusted at the time of joining.
Refund of fees - In case the candidate declines the offered seat after remitting the seat acceptance fees, the refund of the fee will be governed by the policies of the admitting institute.
Withdrawal and refund - If a candidate has paid the UCEED seat acceptance fee but opts for withdrawal after Round I up to one day before the announcement of Round III will get a refund amount equivalent to the seat acceptance fee minus the seat cancellation fee and processing charge of INR 5000. Refund requests made after the announcement of Round III will not be entertained.

UCEED Admission Process

The steps to get admission using UCEED score are given below.

1. Submit the filled UCEED Application form

Fill out the form at the admission portal. One has to use only genuine and verifiable information. This is because details provided by the candidate will be verified at the time of counselling. If any information is found to be incorrect or misleading, the candidate may be disqualified.

2. Download the UCEED Admit card

The admit card is released for registered candidates. Download the admit card by entering your email ID and password. On the day of the UCEED 2027 exam, you will also need a valid photo ID proof along with the admit card.

3. Appear in UCEED Entrance Exam

UCEED question paper has two mandatory sections, A and B. Part A will comprise objective-type questions, while Part B will be subjective-type. Part B answer booklets will only be evaluated if the candidate qualifies Part A. The qualifying marks for Part A will be released before the declaration of UCEED 2027 results.

4. Check UCEED Result

The results will be declared for all candidates appearing in the UCEED 2027 exam. However, only such candidates who qualify in the entrance exam will be issued merit ranks and will be eligible to participate in the counseling process.

5. Apply to UCEED-participating and result colleges

Clearing the UCEED exam does not guarantee admission to any of the colleges accepting UCEED exam scores. The candidate needs to apply to participating institutes based on their UCEED 2027 scores. The participating institutes will conduct counselling and seat allotment at the institute level.
