UCEED Exam is just next week. All of you must be anxious and excited at the same time for the entrance exam. In this article, we have given all the details about the exam day, timing, rules and guidelines which will make your exam day smooth.
UCEED Entrance exam will be conducted by IIT Bombay on January 18, 2026. The exam timing is 9 AM to 12 PM. The exam will be conducted offline at the UCEED Test Centres. UCEED Hall ticket and a photo ID must be taken to write the IIT UCEED Entrance Test. The reporting time is 7 AM.
UCEED 2026 Exam will be of 3 hours. The language of the question paper will be English. UCEED Test paper will be of 300 marks with two parts: Part A and Part B. It is compulsory to attempt questions from both parts. Part A will be computer-based test and Part B will be offline. Both parts will be on the same day and at the centre allocated.

What is the Reporting time for UCEED 2026?
Candidates can report at the UCEED examination centre from 7:00 am on Sunday, January 18, 2026. They must have a printout of the UCEED Admit Card and a Valid Original Photo Identity Proof. The details of the exam timing will be mentioned in the admit card.
There will be biometric attendance at the test centre. Candidates will be required to record the biometric information (thumb impression and photograph) before appearing for the test. The thumb impressions will be verified again at the time of admission and therefore, candidates should make sure that the impression is clear.
Candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination centre after the start of the UCEED examination, after 9 AM.

Part A paper of UCEED 2026 exam will be conducted in a computer based mode. So, candidate must know the basics of computer handling to take the exam. Note that advanced knowledge of software and hardware is not needed to take the paper. Note that in the scenario, there is a technical issue during the exam, the candidate may approach the invigilator for assistance. The invigilator will then take remedial steps to fix the problem. If the problem persists, the candidate will be assigned a different computer terminal.
The counseling for UCEED 2026 will be held as a Joint Seat Allotment process by IIT Bombay.
The Joint Admission Process will have five seat allotment rounds.
The seat allotment for Round I will be declared around the 2nd week of April 2026.
Candidates who are allotted seats have to pay the seat acceptance fees to confirm their seats. There is no option to withdraw seats in the last round.
All the five participating institutes of UCEED 2026 are participating in the counseling process.
The counseling for UCEED 2026 will be conducted online as a Joint Seat Allocation process. The counseling will be conducted in a centralized manner.
IIT Bombay will conduct counseling registration from March 2026. All candidates who qualify in the UCEED 2026 exam will be eligible to register for counseling.
The allotment of seats for admission to the B.Des programme offered by participating colleges is based on the following parameters:
- UCEED 2026 merit rank of the candidate
- College option selected during registration.
Identity Verification for Entry
The identity of the candidates will be verified by UCEED invigilators. If the identity of any candidate does not match the photo ID or admit card, the candidate may not be allowed to appear for the examination.
A candidate under such circumstances will be allowed to write the exam at the discretion of the authorities. They may permit the candidate to appear for the examination after completing some formalities. In this case, no extra time will be allowed to complete the examination, instead of the time taken to complete these formalities. If candidates with doubtful identities are permitted to appear, their candidature shall be subject to the decision of UCI Committee, which shall be final and binding.
Disqualification in case of Impersonation
In case of Impersonation and/or use of any unfair means in the examination will result in immediate disqualification of the candidate from UCEED and lead to criminal proceedings against the candidate.
Commonly asked questions
UCEED seat allotment will be provisional and will be confirmed by admitting institutes only after fees are paid, documents are duly verified, and their formalities are completed.
If any of the steps are left incomplete, the seat allotment can be cancelled.
In such a case, the vacant seats will be offered to the candidate next in the order of merit.

What Items are not allowed in the UCEED Entrance exam?
Candidates are not be allowed to carry any electronic devices, like mobile phones, smart phones, watches of any type, calculators, tablets and the like), abacus, slide rule, log books, study material of any type, geometry box to the examination hall.
What Drawing Materials are allowed?
Candidates must bring their own pencils. Sharing will not be allowed in the exam. They can carry pencils in a transparent packet/pouch. Shades of black colour are allowed. Candidates cannot bring sketch pens, color pencils, poster colors and other colouring materials inside the examination hall. Candidates may bring a writing board of A4 size.
Can a candidate leave the exam hall early?
No, students are not allowed to leave the UCEED Exam centre early if they finish the exam. Candidates have to remain in the examination hall for the entire duration of the
examination. The exam will end at 12 PM.
What to do if there is any technical glitch in UCEED Part A?
UCEED Part A will be conducted in computer-based mode at the exam centre. If there is any technical problem, the candidate can approach the investigator for help. If there is any technical glitch, then candidates will get the extra time to complete the paper. The time lost due to technical problems shall be automatically adjusted on the server.
Any request for a change in the UCEED 2026 examination date and time will not be considered.
UCEED 2026 Scribe Services
In the case of PwD candidates availing the use of a scribe, they will not be allowed to take the help of a scribe in attempting Part B. This is because the question is aimed at evaluating their drawing skill.
