KCET Counselling Process
The KCET counselling process is an online method conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) to allot candidates seats and courses based on their performance in the exam and the merit. The KCET counselling begins with document verification, where students will have to provide academic and category certificates to receive a verification slip.
Following this, the option entry phase will start to allow students to list their preferred colleges and courses in order of priority. KEA conducts a mock allotment to give students an idea of their prospects, followed by actual allotment rounds. Once a seat is allocated, students must choose to "freeze," "float," or "withdraw" before paying fees and reporting to the college.
About the KCET Exam
The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by KEA to shortlist candidates for admission into undergraduate programs (UG) in Engineering, Pharmacy, Agriculture, and Veterinary Sciences. It serves as the gateway for Karnataka students to get admission into prestigious government and private aided institutions. KCET is conducted once a year and the exam tests candidate’s ability The exam tests candidates' readiness on core subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (or Biology) based on First and Second PUC syllabus of Karnataka. The difficulty level of the KCET question paper is 10/12. Each question paper consists of 60 multiple-choice questions to be solved within 80 minutes and as per the KCET pattern, there is no negative marking in the exam.
