  • Aim for 290+/300 in PCM theory. Every 1% drop in board marks is equivalent to losing roughly 1.5 marks in the KCET exam.

  • 50% Weightage: Your 2nd PUC (Class 12) theory marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).
  • 50% Weightage: Your KCET entrance exam marks (out of 180).

Subject-Wise Preparation Strategy to secure a rank under KCET

Focus on high-weightage topics and the specific nature of each subject's paper.

  • Maths is often the toughest section and serves as the primary tie-breaker for rankings. While preparing for KCET. While preparing for Maths, focus on Calculus, Matrices & Determinants, along with solving questions from Vectors & 3D Geometry. 
  • Practice shortcuts and speed-solving techniques as calculation-based questions account for 70% of the paper.
  • While preparing for the Physics subject, students must emphasize practical application and numericals (50-60% of questions). Focus on mechanics (32% weightage), Electricity & Magnetism (28%), and Modern Physics and memorise all standard formulas for direct application.
  • While preparing for Chemistry, candidates must know that it is a high scoring subject and least time-consuming section. Hence while studying Chemistry, they must focus on Organic Chemistry (30-35% weightage), p-block elements, and Chemical Kinetics. Read NCERT; as 75-85% of questions will be NCERT-based.
