The official website of GATE 2017 has listed down some new changes in the exam which will be effective from the year 2017. According to the site, for GATE 2017, there are basically two new changes which have been introduced. They have been clubbed below.
GATE for International Candidates: GATE 2017 examination shall be held for international candidates in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates (U.A.E). The idea behind conducting GATE 2017 in these locations is to attract various nationalities to widen the horizons of an academic environment. The website states, “ A foreign student brings with him/her a great diversity, culture and wisdom to share. Many GATE qualified candidates are paid scholarships/assistantship, especially funded by Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India and by other Ministries”.

New paper: In 2017, the XE paper will have a new section on Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (section H). With this the number of sections in the XE paper has increased to eight (A-H).
New Test Centers: Three new test centers have been added this year - Burdwan (IIT Guwahati Zone), Dibrugarh (IIT Guwahati Zone) and Gorakhpur (IIT Kanpur Zone).
Application process: No restriction on second choice examination city to be in the same zone as first choice city. It can be anywhere in India. Thumb impression of candidates needs to be uploaded during the application procedure. Candidates who have completed the qualifying degree, need to upload scanned image of degree completion certificate or final year/semester mark sheet. However, candidates studying in the final year of their qualifyingdegree need to upload scanned image of pre-final year (or fifth/sixth semester) mark sheet, or provisional certificate letter from his/her Institute as proof of eligibility criterion. Similarly this applies to candidates of AMIE, AMICE and other similar programs.
GATE 2017 Eligibility & Exam Centers
GATE exam dates were released and IIT Roorkee will be conducting GATE 2017. The exam will be held on February 4, 5, 11 and 12, in 2017. The application form of GATE 2017 was made available from September 1 and the process concluded on October 10. Check GATE 2017 important dates here!
The validity of GATE 2017 score shall be for three years.

NHCE Bangalore accepts GATE score for admission to M.Tech programme. However, it is not compulsory. Aspirants can also get into M.Tech course based on their Karnataka PGCET scores. Selected candidates have to confirm their seat by paying the course fees.

Candidates need to graduate from BTech at IIT Dhanbad with a minimum GPA of 8.0 or above to qualify for M.Tech admissions without GATE. Only the candidates who clear BTech from IIT Dhanbad are allowed admissions without GATE into M.Tech at II Dhanbad with the aforementioned score.

No, the GATE 2026 has already been concluded for IIT Dhanbad M.Tech admissions. The GATE 2026 registrations are closed in the month of October. Candidates who have appeared for GATE will need to wait for all merit-lists to be revealed.

The PhD admissions to the Institute Assistantship courses at IIT Guwahati require candidates to appear for the GATE or CEED.
However, PhD admissions to the other categories of PhD courses at IIT Guwahati are not decided on the basis of the aforementioned entrance exams scores.
