GATE 2021 has begun from today in two shifts. The first/forenoon shift will hold from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, while the second/afternoon shift will start from 3:00 pm and ends at 6:00 pm.

IIT Bombay is conducting the GATE 2021 exam from today. Candidates are required to follow certain guidelines for conducting the GATE 2021 smoothly.

GATE 2021 Begins Today

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2021 will begin from today. The exam will be conducted in two shifts. The first shift will begin from 9:30 am and ends at 12:30 pm, while the second will start from 3 pm and ends at 6 pm.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay is the conducting authority of GATE 2021. The authorities have introduced two new subjects: Environmental Science and Engineering (ES) and Humanities and Social Science (XH) this year. The examination will be conducted for different subjects/papers on February 6-7 and February 13-14.

GATE 2021 is an online (Computer-Based) test that will comprise three types of questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT). For a wrong answer chosen in an MCQ, there will be negative marking, while for MSQ and NAT, there will be no negative marking for a wrong answer.

GATE 2021 examination will be held at 200 centres across the nation. IIT Bombay has released a list of instructions for the examination day on its official website, gate.iitb.ac.in. As the exam is being held amid the COVID-19 pandemic, authorities have asked candidates to follow the guidelines strictly.

GATE 2021 Exam Guidelines

  • Candidates are advised to reach at least an hour before the exam starts
  • Candidates must follow the rope queues and the floor marks while entering and inside the exam centres
  • Candidates’ temperature will be checked at the entrance gate of exam centres. Candidates with body temperature above 99.4 degrees Fahrenheit will have to appear for the exam in an isolation room.
  • Candidates must carry all the required documents such as GATE admit card and a photo ID proof at their respective examination centres
  • Candidates are allowed to carry masks, gloves, sanitiser, pen/pencil and a transparent water bottle
  • Candidates will also be required to complete their biometrics after they reach the examination lab
