JEE Advanced 2024 Topper Interview: Aditya, AIl India Rank 2

Tell us about yourself

My name is Aditya. I secured an All India Rank 2 in JEE Advanced 2024. My JEE Advanced preparation journey began in Class XI, but I joined FIITJEE towards the end of Class VIII to establish a strong foundation, enabling me to grasp advanced concepts later on. I am thrilled to have made my parents proud. I extend my gratitude to my family and mentors at FIITJEE for their invaluable support and guidance.

What motivated you to pursue engineering and thus appear for JEE Advanced 2024?

From an early stage in my schooling, I had a strong inclination towards science, particularly Physics, which naturally led me to consider engineering. Knowing early on that I wanted to get into one of the Indian Institute of Technology, I was very clear about my goal. Consequently, I enrolled in the 4 year classroom program at FIITJEE Punjabi Bagh to systematically prepare for this path.

How did you maintain focus and discipline in your preparation period?

To maintain focus and discipline during my preparation period, I allocated time for activities I enjoyed, such as reading books and taking walks in the park to refresh my mind and rejuvenate my spirit. While consistency in studies posed a challenge, the guidance provided by my mentors at FIITJEE enabled me to stay focused and disciplined throughout the preparation period.

Were there any specific challenges you encountered during your preparation? How did you overcome them?

Study, study, study, so sometimes you feel like living a monotonous life, although during preparation that’s our only job to do, but still sometimes it is hard to manage the jungle of questions. The pressure to perform well was immense. Regular exercise, meditation, and short breaks helped me stay calm and focused. Certain topics were particularly challenging. I tackled them by seeking help from the FIITJEE Faculty and practising extensively. Staying consistent with my studies was hard. Setting small, achievable goals and rewarding myself upon completion kept me motivated. Constant support from my parents and teachers helped me overcome challenges.

How did you manage stress and pressure during the lead-up to the exam?

I made sure not to take any stress or pressure. I focused solely on giving my best. I appeared in the exam just as I used to in FIITJEE’s test series. I had taken many mock tests at FIITJEE, which helped me maintain my composure during the exam.

Were there any resources or study materials that you found particularly helpful for JEE Advanced?

For the JEE Advanced and Physics Olympiad, I found "Krotov" to be an excellent book for JEE Advanced. The FIITJEE study material was my primary resource and proved to be the best for my preparation. The All-India Test series was very helpful in evaluating and analysing my performance at the national level.

Which IIT and course are you pursuing?

My dream is to take Computer Science at either IIT Bombay or IIT Delhi because it aligns closely with my interests and aspirations.

How did you stay motivated during times of self doubt or setbacks?

I stayed motivated during times of self-doubt or setbacks through my family’s unwavering belief in me, extensive practice, repetitive and regular revisions, and the guidance I received from my mentors at FIITJEE.

How did you handle difficult or unfamiliar questions during the JEE Advanced exam?

I always wanted to attempt all questions so I did not categorise any questions and attempted all questions in chronological order.

Yes, your son can easily appear for ongoing JoSAA 2026 counselling and the choice-filling process. However, to get a seat on IIT, your son must score 75% aggregate in the 12th CBSE for the general category, and for SC/ST/PwD, the score must be 65%.
