MHT CET 2020 admission process

For admission to various institutes of Maharashtra, candidates are required to go through the MHT CET admission process. The process involves various steps such as counselling, document verification, seat allotment and reporting to the allotted institute.

MHT CET 2020 counselling has been started from November 9 onwards. Registrations for the counselling will be done from December 9 to 15, 2020. Candidates must also download the Information brochure for MHT CET counselling to be aware of the dates and requirement for every event prior to it.

MHT CET 2020 Counselling

As the first step of MHT CET admission process, all candidates have to appear for the counselling. The counselling of MHT CET is also known as Centralised Admission Process (CAP). This year there will be three CAP rounds for allotment of seats to students. For CAP registrations, candidates have to visit the official website and login to it with their application ID and date of birth.

The counselling process will include steps like MHT CET counselling registration, fee payment and document verification. Candidates applying on the basis of JEE Main scores will also have to register for the counselling process and pay the required fee. There is no counselling fee for MHT CET qualified candidates.

MHT CET 2020 Admission Process: Document verification

After registering successfully, candidates will be required to report to the Admission Facilitation Centres (AFC) for verification of documents. At the AFCs, candidates must bring original documents along with a set of self-attested copies. Candidates who do not report at the facilitation centre will not be allowed to proceed further in the MHT CET 2020 admission process.

MHT CET 2020 Admission Process: Selecting College and Course

After verification of documents, candidates will be required to login to the official website for selecting courses and institutes as per their preferences. The colleges and courses will be shown on the system as per their ranks and availability of seats. Candidates are allowed to choose minimum one and maximum of 300 options. All of the options have to be selected in order of preference since this factor will also be taken into consideration during the allotment of seats.

MHT CET 2020 Admission Process: Seat Allotment

The allotment of seats in participating institutes will be carried out through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) based on merit ranks, availability of seats and choice filling. Candidates will be able to check their allotment status by logging into the official website using their application ID and date of birth. The allotment list will be published only in online mode.

Reporting at Admission Facilitation Centres

After seat allotment, the candidates have to report at the reporting centre to “freeze”, “float” or “slide” their allotted seat.

  • If the candidates do not wish to participate in the further round of seat allotment, then they have to choose “Freeze”.
  • The option of “Slide” can be used if the candidate accepts the allotted seat but is open for admission into a course of higher preference within the same institute.
  • Candidates who have accepted a seat will be able to use “Float” only when they are interested in admission to a course or college of higher preference in the further rounds of allotment.

MHT CET 2020 Admission Process: Reporting at Allotted Institute

As the last step, candidates finally have to report to their allotted institutes to complete the admission process. Payment of the balance fees has to be done to confirm the allotted seats. The confirmation process has to be completed before the final date.

Q. What is the procedure of CAP rounds in MHT CET?

A. There will be a total of three CAP rounds. MHT CET 2020 counselling process includes steps like registration, fee payment, choice filling, seat allotment, and document verification.

Q. How many types of seats are there in MHT CET?

A. There are different types of seats such as Maharashtra State Candidature Seats, All India Candidature Seats, Minority Quota Seats and Supernumerary Seats for Jammu and Kashmir Migrants.

Q. Is there Defence quota in MHT CET?

A. Wards of Defence Personnel can claim reservation in MHT CET 2019 Seat allotment. About 5% of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to this category.

Q. Is there EWS quota in MHT CET?

A. Yes, there is EWS quota in MHT CET. EWS reservation is meant for General Category students whose annual income from all sources is less than 8 lakhs per annum.

Q. Is domicile certificate required for engineering admission in Maharashtra 2020?

A. The applicants must have passed SSC and HSC or Diploma in Engineering from a recognised school or institution in Maharashtra state. Candidates whose father or mother is domiciled in Maharashtra are also eligible for admission. Such candidates must submit a domicile certificate.

No. You cannot change the language of question paper during MHT CET exam. The medium/language of the question paper selected in the MHT CET application form is irrevocable.

The group selected in MHT CET decides the subjects to be studied. For PCM group, candidates have to study Physics, Chemistry and Maths, while PCB students have to study Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
