How I chose my course and college: Nitin Kumar

Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test 2026 ( IPU CET )

Updated on Jul 6, 2018 19:40 IST

I have cracked LEET (Lateral Entry Entrance Test) exam in the year 2016 without taking any coaching classes. The exam is not very difficult or competitive as IPUCET which you appear for after Class 12th exam. Only a few thousand students would compete with you in this. But if you secure admission in any of IPU’s government college, then you have to make a good strategic plan for preparation. My reason for saying this is because if you are a 'general' category student then you must have secured a rank below 100 or 150 to secure admission in any of IPU’s government college. Private colleges affiliated to IPU are pretty good as well.

I cracked LEET by studying only 2 or 3 days. I couldn’t secure admission in a government college but I still got a good rank and thus got admission to my college in my 3rd counseling. I took a wrong decision to freeze my seat and did not apply for spot round counseling. If I had applied for spot round counseling, I could have got a better college. So, my suggestion to students is that if you are not satisfied with your allotted seat, branch or college in counseling, do appear for the spot round counseling.

Preparation tips:

If u want to crack this exam without any coaching classes, you should have a good strategical plan. The syllabus of LEET is not that hard but also not very easy. If you have studied mechanics in your semesters, then preparing for LEET would be easier for you. If you haven’t, then you might face issues worth your preparation. I was an ECE student and I faced a similar problem because I had not studied mechanics in my semesters.

Mechanics covers a good portion in LEET exam.  Other subjects in the exam are Mathematics, Chemistry and Reasoning. If you are good at Mathematics, then you would be at ease. If you are not, then you must practice a lot for Mathematics as well.

Reasoning is the easiest part in LEET entrance exam. With the help of this reasoning portion, you can secure good marks and can get a good rank. Reasoning helped me a lot in cracking this exam.

No, digital copies are not accepted. You must carry a printed hard copy of the IPU CET admit card to the exam centre along with a valid photo ID. Without the printed admit card, entry into the examination hall will not be permitted.
