Most Competitive Branch: According to previous years’ cutoff data, Computer Science and Engineering consistently has lowest closing ranks in University of Calcutta. This means that this course has highest competition. Under All India Quota, students who secure a rank between 500 to 1000 will have higher chances of allotment in CSE.

Least Competitive Branch: On the other hand, courses such as Jute & Fibre Technology, Polymer Science & Technology and Optics & Optoelectronics in University of Calcutta, have much higher closing ranks. WBJEE 2026 Counselling

WBJEE 2026 counselling dates will be announced soon. Qualified candidates have to participate in counselling for admissions. No separate counselling is held for University of Calcutta. While registering for WBJEE counselling 2026, candidates will have to choose their preferred BTech courses and colleges. Selection of choices has to be done in order of preference. Candidates are advised to check previous years' WBJEE cutoff to know their admission chances in their preferred courses.

WBJEE 2026 counselling registration fee has to be paid online through net banking/credit card/debit card. WBJEE seat allotment 2026 result will be announced online. Separate allotment result will be released for different counselling rounds. If admissions will not be confirmed before final date, allotment will be cancelled.

Yes, there a self-financing institutes included in the WBJEE counselling process. In the self-financing institutes, the 10% approved seats will be open for JEE Main qualified candidates. These students do not require WBJEE scores for admission.

If the students appear for just WBJEE Paper 1 (Mathematics), they will not be allotted any rank. These students will not be considered eligible for admissions. For allotment, the students will have to attempt both Paper 1 and 2 of WBJEE.

Q:   Does Jadavpur University accept WBJEE scores for admission?
A: 

Jadavpur University accepts WBJEE scores for admissions into the BTech courses. However, the 12th standard qualifying exam eligibility criteria is minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (45% for reserved category). The students should also have minimum 60% in Mathematics and a pass mark in English.

Adamas University WBJEE 2026 Round 3 cutoff is out for BTech. For the General AI category, the Round 3 cutoff ranges from 58967 for BTech in Mechanical Engineering to 92641 for BTech in BiotechnologyBTech in Mechanical Engineering is the most competitive branch for admission.

Yes, but only in private colleges through management quota, based on Class 12 marks, without needing WBJEE. Colleges like IEM, Heritage, Techno India, and Adamas offer this option.
Always check that the college is AICTE-approved before taking direct admission, as unapproved seats can create problems
