With JEE Main April 2019 exam just around the corner, engineering aspirants are trying every possible course of action to secure a good rank in the exam. The question is subjective and the answer might vary from student to student. The difficulty level of JEE Main 2019 for two candidates appearing for the exam on the same day and session might completely be the opposite. It all depends on one’s preparation and focus areas.
However, to address such queries, JEE experts across various coaching institutes shared a detailed analysis of the JEE Main 2019 January paper to find out the most difficult paper of the four days that the exam was held on.
According to Resonance, the JEE Main 2019 Paper conducted on January 11 was the toughest. The coaching institute rated all the papers on a scale of 1.00 to 2.50 and took out an average. Basis the analysis, JEE Main Paper held on January 11 got the highest rating of 1.8. Refer to the table below to get an idea about the difficulty level of all the JEE Main 2019 January papers according to Resonance.

Atharva Sharma, a JEE aspirant and a Quora user shared, “This is because that day's Chemistry paper was unconventional. Instead of asking questions from chapters’ like-Chemical bonding and coordination compounds, the paper setters preferred chapters of rote learning like Environmental Chemistry and Chemistry in everyday Life. Also, Physics required humongous calculations and Maths was moderate too. So, if anyone made even a tiny mistake in time management then the paper would seem quite tough. The rating given to this paper is 1.8 compared to other papers' rating between 1.5–1.76”.
The difficulty level of JEE Main 2019 question paper would differ from student to student basis their prep strategy. And it's unlikely for NTA to set one paper tougher than the other or vice-versa. However, candidates are advised to take as many mock tests and solve atleast the last 5 years' question paper to increase the chances to scoring high in the exam.
Here are the 6 key takeaways from the Jan exam to help you score high and be well-prepared for the second phase of the exam.

With a 300 SC category rank in CAT, your chances for NIT Trichy MBA are relatively high. Based on 2025 data, NIT Trichy generally shortlists SC candidates with CAT percentiles around 60-65. To achieve a 300 rank under SC category, you would need about a 65-70 percentile, or a score of roughly 60-65
