CLAT 2027 Total Marks
CLAT 2027 Total Marks: The Consortium of National Law Universities conducts the Common Law Admission Test in offline mode nationwide. The Consortium released the exam dates at consortiumofnlus.ac.in on July 22. As per the official communication, the CLAT 2027 exam date is December 6, 2026. CLAT 2027 will be conducted at the designated exam centres following the trends of yesteryears. The candidates will be required to mark their answers in the OMR sheet provided at the examination centre.
The candidates can fill the CLAT registration form 2027 till October 31, 2026.

CLAT 2027 Total Marks
The total marks in CLAT UG and CLAT PG exams are the same. As per the CLAT paper structure mentioned on the official portal, there will be 120 questions and the duration of the paper will be 2 hours only. This implies that 1 minute will be available to read, analyse, solve/calculate and mark the answer of the question in the OMR sheet.
Each question will be passage-based. The candidates need to improve their reading speed to quickly read, understand and interpret the passage and answer the questions asked accurately based on the passage.
Each question carries one mark only. Each correct answer will fetch 1 mark and there will be no deduction of marks for the unattempted questions.

No, the Consortium has confirmed that no changes has been made to the CLAT Exam Pattern 2027. It must be noted that CLAT Syllabus has also remained the same this year.
Candidates can check the allotted CLAT Exam Centre on their admit card. It must be noted that there is no way to know the exam centre except checking the hall ticket.

How CLAT's Total Marks Have Changed Over the Years?
CLAT started at 200 marks back in 2009, and that structure held steady all the way through 2019. Then came a fairly big shift in 2020: the Consortium cut the total down to 150 marks, along with a reduced question count, and that format ran until 2023.
The most recent change landed in 2024, when total marks dropped again to 120. CLAT 2027 will be held based on the exam structure mentioned on the official website.

In the current structure, the Legal Reasoning and Current Affairs together make up half the total marks. That's not an accident; it reflects what the Consortium actually wants to test, which is your reading, reasoning, and legal aptitude, not rote memory.

Quant is at the bottom of the CLAT total marks pyramid with just a 10% share; this reduction in weightage made a lot of aspirants deprioritise it, even sometimes to their own detriment, since a few easy marks here can still shift your rank meaningfully in the fierce competition.
CLAT 2027 Marking Scheme
Every correct answer earns you one mark. Nothing complicated there. Every wrong answer costs you 0.25 marks. This is where CLAT starts punishing blind guessing, and it's a bigger deal than most first-time test-takers assume.

Unattempted questions cost you nothing. Leaving a question blank is always safer than guessing wildly, at least from a pure marks perspective. Negative marking is introduced in the exam to minimise the guessing work by the candidates and may the best candidate win without guessing.
CLAT 2027 Good Score
Every year, the good score changes with the difficulty level of the CLAT question paper. The marks needed to get a call from the best NLU changes every year because the difficulty level of the CLAT question paper is different. If the paper is easy, getting a call from the Best NLUs may require 90+ marks; on the contrary, if the paper is difficult, 85+ marks may be enough to get a call from the Best NLUs. A 90+ score generally opens doors to most law colleges that accept CLAT, NLUs and private institutions alike.
Scoring between 70 and 90 will be in the grey zone. You'll likely land a rank somewhere in the low thousands, which can still work for mid-tier NLUs but probably not the very top few.
Anything below 70 makes NLU admission genuinely difficult, though reserved-category candidates and private law colleges still leave some realistic paths open even in this range.
