Is CLAT tougher than JEE?
CLAT vs JEE is one of most common debates among Class 12 students trying to decide their career path. Both are toughest entrance exams, but they test very different skills and lead to very different careers. Candidates who are confused between both of these can check differences below.

What is CLAT?
CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) is national level entrance exam conducted by Consortium of NLUs for admission in 5 year law programs and Post Gradudate Law updates including BA LLB, BBA LLB and LLM, across 24 plus National Law Universities in India.

What is JEE?

The CLAT exam duration is two hours for both the Undergraduate and Postgraduate. It will have 120 multiple choice questions. For each correct answer one makrs will be given and -0.25 will be deducted for incorrect ones.

CLAT vs JEE: Competition Level
CLAT 2027 will be held on December 6, 2026. Taking previous year in consideration, CLAT 2026 registered around 92,344 students. Of these, around 75,009 applied for 5-year UG law programme, and all NLUs together offer around 3,511 UG seats.
JEE Main 2026 recorded 14.5 lakh candidates' registrations for Session 1 alone and total candidates across both sessions crossed around 15 to 17 lakh registrations. Out of these, only top 2.5 lakh candidates qualified to appear for JEE Advanced, where around 1.8 lakh students compete for around 17,760 to 18,160 seats across all IITs.

CLAT vs JEE: Syllabus Difficulty
CLAT syllabus is based on Class 12 level English comprehension, current affairs, and reasoning based passages. Difficulty in CLAT comes from reading speed, passage-based comprehension, and time management. Candidates must read and analyse long passages within limited time.
JEE syllabus, on other hand, is concept based and requires deep understanding of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at Class 11 and 12 level. JEE Advanced especially tests application-based, multi-concept problems that require strong analytical and calculation skills built over 2 years of consistent practice.

So, Which is Tougher?
There is no single correct answer, since both exams test completely different skill sets.
If you compare raw competition and applicant volume, JEE is far tougher, since lakhs more students compete for limited engineering seats compared to CLAT.
If you compare exam-day pressure and reading speed required, CLAT can feel tougher since long passages must be read and analysed quickly within just 2 hours.

Yes, the Consortium removed two Test Cities from the CLAT 2027. The removed test cities are Vellore and Tiruvarur. CLAT 2027 exam date is December 6.

Candidates are required to pay the CLAT Registration/Form fee as per their category. The Consortium prescribed the category-wise form fee. Without submitting the CLAT form fee, the registration will not be completed.

No, candidates who fulfill OP Jindal Global University BBA LLB (hons) eligibility criteria cannot apply with a CLAT-UG score. This institute only accepts admission based on LNAT-UK exam. No other entrance exams are accepted during admissions to this course.
