I was in the middle of my preparations for 10th board exam, when “What next?” was often the topic of discussion at home. My brother introduced me to Commerce stream as he had a few friends who had taken up Commerce. The more I heard about the subject, the more interested I was. I also had an aspiration to join Christ Junior College for my PUC (11th and 12th). Luckily for me, I had enough marks to get into Christ through general merit. It so happened then that I decided to go ahead and study Commerce.
After PUC, I chose to continue in Christ University for pursuing my BCom degree. During my under-grad, I was not sure if I wanted to continue with post-graduation or take up a job. Nevertheless, I decided to sit for the placements and got through as an audit associate in KPMG. I accepted the job offer and worked for almost two years. After which I felt it’s about time I pursued my post-graduation.

I appeared for CAT and MAT. I was sure I wanted to do my MBA in Bangalore, so I narrowed down my options to Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME) and Christ University. I looked into XIME as I had a desire to study at a different campus. However, when I got into Christ University, I was assigned the Kengeri campus. This gave me an opportunity to study in Christ but at a different and a more beautiful campus. So here I am, pursuing my MBA degree from Institute of Management, Christ University, Bangalore.
How I prepared for MBA college admission
Frankly, there is nothing much to tell about my preparations for MBA entrance exam. I had registered for both MAT and CAT. I wanted to prepare well for both. I did not go for any regular coaching, so a systematic learning never really happened. I did buy lot many aptitude books for self-learning. However, because of my work, I was not able to devote much time to exam preparation. When I did get time, I was often confused where to start, so I would end up flipping through a few pages and randomly going through a few questions. Truthfully, looking at all the questions in the mock tests I was pretty sure I would not get through and get the required marks in the entrance exam. Before I could think much, the day of my exam was upon me. I hoped for the best and gave my exam. It went pretty well, but we can never be too sure. When the results were out, I was the most surprised person as I got enough and more score to get through Christ as well as XIME. I had planned to apply to XIME as well, but by then I had already got into Christ, so I decided to go ahead with it.
My college life: Classes, extra-curricular activities and more
Our college is always buzzing with life with some program or the other. I remember when I pursued my under-graduation in the city, we could always see the students practicing dance for some or the other program. This is mainly because of the various deaneries present in the city campus. However, I should say that at present I am more happy studying MBA in Kengeri campus, known for its beautiful and serene environment. After class, my friends and I enjoy going for long walks.
We have various subjects throughout the trimesters, however, my favourites ones are quantitative subjects like Statistics and Finance. We spend our time in college attending classes, doing group assignments and activities. We have ample opportunities to organise and be part of various fests and functions. I have been part of the dance team for few of the inter- and Intra-college fests. It was an amazing experience. I also got a chance to be part of the organising committee for our inter-college management fest. If given a chance I would like to be an active member in organising various events in my college.
Here at Christ University, they teach us to manage our time effectively. Between all the cultural programs, assignments, tests and exams, we will have to find time for ourselves and enjoy college life. And being in Kengeri we would surely have to find time to go out and enjoy the city as well. Christ University gives us many opportunities to develop ourselves as able individuals and encourages us to utilise these opportunities to the fullest. Here, our faculty and other staff are really very pleasant and supportive. More than anything else I love the campus and enjoy its calm and quiet surroundings.

Yes, CAT exam is MCQ type, meaning there are no subjective type questions wherein you have to write a lot. In CAT every question is to be answered in one word or option. However, all questions don't have MCQ options, some are Type In The Answer (TITA) questions.
