Students' Speak: How to overcome the failure of a dream college?

If we don’t get our desired college or dream college or top three colleges in our bucket list, it pains a lot and we face depression for some time. This creates lots of pressure both internally, mentally and externally from family and society.

There are two ways of dealing with it. The first one is to make the use of other good colleges available for you in the country. The second is to take a drop of a year if you are much confident of cracking your dream college next year with twice the dedication and hard work.

However, both options are equally tough and painful. If you have considered option one then I would recommend you to check for college-specific exams lined up, with which you can enter some decent college. Then take admission into the best one available based on your score.

Be serious about your preparation as you will compete with the students of the top college. To compete with them, you need to study with a whole lot of devotion to compete with them and be at a sustainable growth phase. If you are at an engineering college, start working on technical skills and start preparing for CAT/GATE from the second year onwards.

But if you are in a B-school of tier 3/4, start working hard from the first year onwards as you have no option for any additional degree. This will help you overcome your undergraduate failure of a dream college. Learn as much as skills by undergoing various internships and live projects aligned to the latest technology and business trends.

This is the last chance if you want to bag your dream job/company. Make sure to build a strong network among industry experts and be in touch with them. Learning marketing and finance along with operations will help you a lot as the core industries work on operations and managing marketing and finance is very crucial. Acquire relevant certifications in technical and management domains as this will make you fit for any kind of industry.

Participate in various national level competitions and showcase your talent and try to win awards and set incubation centres with industry experts. Try to launch your startup as even if you fail you will only learn a lot instead of losing much.
