The MBBS full form is Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. The course is 5.5-year UG programme which is usully opted by candidates who wish to become doctors. The course is divided in multiple semesters which are a balance of theoretical as well as practical sessions. The MBBS course helps candidates learn about medicine, basic knowledge about surgery and how to treat patients effectively. 

The MBBS course is not offered in online or part-time mode since the curriculum is very rigorous and physical attendance is must for every semester. Further, the MBBS course is divided into three phases which are Pre Clinical, Para Clinical and Clinical. After the course, candidates are also go through a Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI). The internship lasts for approx. 12 months. Once the candidate has done their internship and passed their National Exit Test (NExT) exam, they will be get the degree.

Q: What is the duration of the MBBS course?

A: The duration of the MBBS course is 5.5 years, wherein students have to spend 4.5 years on campus and one year of compulsory rotating internship.

Q: What are the different modes of offering MBBS course?

A: MBBS is offered only in full-time classroom mode owing to the curriculum and scope of learning. Since MBBS is heavily practical-based, it is not possible to offer it in a part-time or virtual mode.

Q: Are there any part-time MBBS courses?

A: No, MBBS curriculum requires full-time pedagogy to complete the vast syllabus. Hence, it is not possible to deliver a part-time MBBS course.

Q: Can I pursue an MBBS course in distance learning mode?

A: MBBS course curriculum is quite vast and requires a long duration of physical classes. MBBS pedagogy includes not just theoretical classes but practical lessons and internships as well. Hence, it is not possible to deliver an MBBS course in a distance learning mode.

A: While the minimum age limit of candidates is 17 years, the upper age limit has been scrapped by a Supreme Court hearing. Earlier, the upper age limit for MBBS applicants was 25 years for General category candidates and 30 years for the reserved category candidates.
