NEET 2022 candidates and stakeholders are demanding a restest of NEET 2022 as an aftermath of controversies and goof-ups reported by candidates at different centres. Know the details here.
NEET 2022: Controversies never cease to mar the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). With the conclusion of the exam on July 17, several candidates reported goof-ups regarding the NEET 2022 question paper distribution. Reportedly, at some of the NEET exam centres of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, the question papers in Hindi and English were interchanged among candidates while distributed. Although they were given extra time, but this incident caused them inconvenience and hampered their focus and concentration.
A report stated, “It was informed to the control room that some students are facing the issue of the booklets being in English medium and we found out that the students who opted for Hindi medium received the English-medium booklet. The problem was looked into and reported to the city coordinator, who on the directions of the National Testing Agency tried to solve the problem. Out of 936 students, there were 238 students, who opted for Hindi medium for the exam and the rest were for the English medium. A majority of the students were affected because of this problem,”

Edited to Add: Upon receiving multiple complaints and requests from candidates who faced unpleasant experiences at their allotted NEET 2022 exam centres, NTA reconducted the exam on September 4 only for those candidates who faced issues regarding inappropriate frisking and wrong question paper in centres located in Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. They were sent their NEET admit cards via email.
Candidates must ensure that they take the NEET mock test in a proctored manner within a simulated environment. Hence, ideally students should take mock test in the exam timing, from 2 PM to 5 PM, without any break. This would help them get adjusted to the exam taking environment. Moreover, the test should be taken without any break. It must also be ensured that they take the test in a quite environment either alone or with a group of fellow NEET aspirants. Creating a simulated test-taking experience is important. While a number of students take the NEET mock tests at coaching institutes, some prefer to take it at their home. Irrespective of the location, the above factors must be followed to get the best out of the NEET mock test.
The total marks of NEET is 720. Hence, a score above 500 is considered to be good. Ensuring a high score in all the sections will ensure an overall high score. Although there is no sectional cutoff or qualifying marks for NEET a balanced performance would be better than a skewed performance. The mentors or experts evaluating the NEET mock tests often set a high difficulty level question paper to help them prepare for a tough test. Hence, students should not be demotivated if their score is low. They must improve their preparation and be prepared and give their best shot to get a high score in NEET 2024.

A similar incident was reported from a centre in Madhya Pradesh. “The invigilators gave us the paper of Hindi medium which was bilingual and English medium paper was given to them which was in English only. After 45 minutes, when invigilators realised this, they took our paper back and our solved papers were given to Hindi medium people and their papers were given to us. They took almost an hour to do this. We lost out concentration,” stated the excerpt from the Tweet.
CBI Arrested Eight People for NEET Exam Rigging
In another incident, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested eight people for NEET UG examination rigging a day after the exam was held. These people, including the mastermind, impersonated real candidates to help clear the NEET UG 2022 examination. The impersonators used the process of mixing and morphing of photographs to facilitate the use of proxy candidates for appearing in the examination.
The impersonators appeared for the exam at centres located in Delhi and Haryana. The CBI has alleged that user IDs and passwords of the real candidates were collected by the accused, who made necessary modifications for getting desired examination centres.
NEET mock tests must be analysed by the mentors of experts after the tests where they would point out the mistakes and suggest rectifications. They would also help in improving a faster and more effective way to solve a particular question. The analysis will help students identify their strong and weak areas and based on this, a better and improved preparation strategy would be suggested to them by the experts. Abiding the feedback based on the NEET mock test analysis will help improve their performance. At the last month before the test, there is not much scope left for the preparation. Hence, at the last few days before the exam, after the analysis of NEET mock test, aspirants should focus on finalising the test-taking strategy.
NEET mock test should be taken after the basic preparation is over and the entire syllabus has been covered. Taking mock tests after NEET 2026 preparation will help students gauge their preparation level and also guide them on which sections or topics need extra emphasis. There is another pattern of taking mock tests, after completing each subject or chapter. This would help students understand their hold on each subject or section. Generally, students start taking full-fledged NEET mock tests or NEET prep questions around three to four months before the exam, once the complete preparation is over.
The frequency of taking NEET mock test depends on the number of days left for the exam. Two mock tests should be taken three to four months before the exam. When one to two months are left, the number of mocks in a week should increase. Students should dedicate the other days to analysis and preparation.

Students Demand NEET 2022 Retest
As a mark of protest and seeking justice for the goof-ups and malpractices involved in the NEET 2022, candidates and student activists have demanded a retake of the exam. The hashtag ReNEET is trending on the social media platforms such as Twitter.
Advocate Anubha Shrivastava Sahai has tweeted, “Either cancel #NEETUG2022 or provide another attempt for all This is injustice with hard working students 18 lakh compete for 90-1L seats And those who are involved in malpractice score good marks This way #NEET is not going to help #reneet2022 #neetug2022”
The All India Students Dental Association (AISDA) tweeted, “Conduct #NEETUG2022 again What is the point in holding such exam and then declaring the results when students are morphing admit cards and sending someone else to appear for exam With proper Security & biometric this exam must be re conducted.”
Another advocate Abhishek Raj has also extended his support to the NEET 2022 candidates demanding a retest.
A candidate suggested filing a PIL in court and protesting instead of posting grievances on social media platforms.
Some students are of the view that only those candidates who have been a victim of the goof-ups caused by the invigilators should get another chance to appear for NEET since it may be inconvenient to conduct the test on such a massive scale once again.
NTA or the Ministry of Education is yet to respond to the student queries and demands. NEET was conducted in over 500 cities across India and abroad for over 18 lakh candidates. As per the data released by the Ministry of Education, Jaipur saw the largest number of test-takers, which was 52,351. On the other hand, the lowest number of candidates appeared in West Sikkim, which was 105. In the international cities, Dubai and Bangkok had the highest and lowest turnouts respectively.

Chapter-wise mock tests are important for NEET 2026 because they help you fix your basics one step at a time. When you study the full syllabus at once, it feels huge, but breaking it into chapters makes it manageable. After every chapter, doing a small mock helps you know where you're strong, where

During the preparation period of NEET both sectional as well as full length mock tests are useful. The sectional mock tests have to be taken after completing each subject. This would help you to gauge your preparation level and also help in understanding the areas of improvement. Once the entire NEET syllabus is completed, you should take full-length mock tests. Generally, students tend to take the NEET mock tests three to four months prior to the exam. Hence, when it comes to the final stage of preparation, ideally, students should take full-length mock tests. However, if a student wants to revise a particular section or subject, then it is advisable that they take sectional mock tests or revision or practice purpose.
