Why Re-Exam Pressure Feels So Heavy?
NEET is a national entrance test for admission to UG Medicine courses. More than 20 lakhs students appear for the test, making it highly competitive. Years of hard work, sleepless nights, mock tests, sacrificing comfort, family function and more are required from a student to secure admission.
When exam gets over, many students mentally leave the burden of pressure they have gone through for a year or more. At this moment, news of exam cancellation and re-exam made students feel that their hard work had gone in vain. Re-exam pressure is heavier because
- Students' fears of news date.
- Worry about change in cutoff and rank
- Fear of not forgetting concepts.
- Rumor and misinformation on social media.

Social Media: Support System or Stress Trigger
Social media is playing two different roles in NEET 2026 situation.
Students are finding emotional support online. Aspirants and experts are sharing motivational posts and preparation strategies. While some students are sharing memes of exam cancellation.
On the other hand, there are many post related to exam difficulty level, expected cutoff, and rank prediction are increasing panic among students. Experts have advised avoiding information from unauthorised sources.
How are students coping mentally?
Many students are now focused on preparation and mental balance. Mentors, parents, teachers and counsellors help students to regain their confidence and avoid panic study.
Rebuilding Study Routines Slowly
Now is the time to move toward preparation. Students are not getting involved in long study hours. They are restarting preparation with revision-based schedules and shorter study targets.
According to experts, consistency matters more than studying for 14-15 hours under stress.

Talking about Stress Openly
According to counsellors, students who openly talk about their stress with teachers, friends, parents, or family members can manage the anxiety better than those who isolate themselves.
Students are trying to stay hopeful
With all the news and rumours on the internet, many students are still trying to remain mentally strong. They are planning a revision strategy, supporting friends, and constantly reminding themselves that a year of preparation has not gone to waste. The exam might be cancelled, but the knowledge gained over the months stays with them.
They are struggling with studies as well as trying to stay calm and positive. Students need emotional support and academic guidance from parents, teachers, and mentors during this entire phase.
