Assam Board Exam 2021 for class 10 and 12 is likely to be conducted in July or August. However, students have filed a PIL in the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the examinations.

Assam HSLC, HS Exams 2021 will likely be conducted in July or August if COVID 19 positivity rate falls below 2 per cent in the state, said state CM. However, due to a delay in the decision, students across the state have moved to the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the Assam Board Exams 2021.

A group of students from class 10 and 12 has filed a PIL in the Supreme Court on June 14, 2021. The plea states that the students are being compelled to appear in the HSLC and HS Assam Board Exam 2021 amid a threat to their life due to COVID 19.

The petition reads, “In the interest of the safety of lakhs of students and their parents, it is better to cancel the board exams.”  Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier announced that the state boards would try to hold exams only if the positivity rate comes down to 2 per cent by July 1, 2021.

The PIL further added that the government’s statement on COVID positivity rate below 2 per cent has no relevance on the conduct of board exams. The students mentioned that if CBSE, CISCE and other state boards can cancel their respective exams, so should Assam Board. However, the state government is yet to take a final decision.

According to the latest updates, the Assam Education Boards (SEBA and AHSEC) are likely to conduct HSLC, HS exams from July 15, 2021 for two three main subjects only. Also, male and female students will write the exams on separate dates to ensure social distancing.
