IIT Madras Pravartak to Train 30,000 Teachers
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation is set to train 30,000 teachers and educators from 10,000 schools and institutions across India through its ‘Career Counselling Certification Training’ programme. Offered in online mode in collaboration with BodhBridge Education, a company founded by IIT Madras alumni, the initiative aims to equip teachers with the skills needed to provide effective career guidance and one-on-one counselling to students.
The IITM Pravartak team will extend comprehensive support, including training materials and resources. Recognising that teachers are often the first mentors in a student’s life, the programme addresses the critical need for formal training in career counselling to help educators guide students more meaningfully.
Career Counselling Certification Training
This free training program is open to school teachers, principals, college faculty, educators, and counsellors. The knowledge and skills gained through the workshop will not only empower participants to better guide their students but also enhance their effectiveness as educators and mentors.
The next batch of training begins on July 4, 2025, with the last date to register being July 2, 2025. Interested schools and teachers can register at: bodhbridge.iitmpravartak.org.in/counselors.php. Over the past six months, nearly 4,215 teachers from 22 states and Union Territories have enrolled in the programme, with 976 teachers completing their certification.
Highlighting the significance of this initiative, Balamurali Shankar, Chief Knowledge Officer, IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, said, “Every child deserves guidance that helps them discover their strengths and chart a path towards a fulfilling career. With teachers trained in career counselling, parents can feel confident that their children are receiving informed, personalized support at schools, empowering students to make smarter academic and career decisions early in life.”
