NEET 2022 Notification Released; Exam on July 17, Application Process from April 6

NEET 2022 Notification Released

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the NEET 2022 notification on its official website on April 6. The exam is scheduled to be held on July 17 in 543 cities across India and 14 cities abroad from 2 pm to 5.20 pm. The registration and application process has started on April 6 and will end on May 6, at 11.50 pm. The application fee can be paid till May 7, 11.50 pm. The schedule for other events such as application correction, admit card, answer key and result has not been announced yet. The information brochure of the exam has also been released along with the application form. The official notification of NEET 2022 has put an end to the speculations regarding the exam date.

NEET to be a Single Day and Slot Exam

Given the date of the exam, it is clear that it would be conducted over a single day and slot, quashing the speculation of conducting NEET twice a year. Candidates will not be given an option to appear for the exam twice in a year or be able to select a date or slot for the exam, which is possible for JEE Main candidates.

NEET 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must check eligibility criteria before making NEET 2022 application online. To appear for the exam, candidates must have qualified Class 12 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology and English as core subjects from a recognised board and they must be of minimum 17 years old. Those who will be appearing for Class 12 board exams this year will also be eligible for the NEET 2021 entrance test.

NEET 2022 Important Dates

The following table brings the dates for the important events related to NEET 2022.

Last year, as many as 16.14 lakh candidates had registered for NEET out of which 15.44 lakh candidates appeared for the exam. NEET 2021 was conducted in 13 languages in 202 cities across India and abroad. The exam pattern had also undergone changes.
