IISER 2025 New Changes Introduced: Eligibility (Reinstated), New Courses, Seat Intake & Other Details

IISER Tirupati has again introduced some signifcant changes for admissions to the BS-MS/BS/BTech courses offered through IAT 2025 admission process. The exam officials changed the registrations dates, reversed the eligibility criteria and added few more courses. IISER Aptitude Test 2025 Latest Changes Introduced

IISER 2025 Major Changes introduced contains crucial information, which mentions the updates done by the exam officials for this academic session 2025-2026 for better performance and participation of the candidates.

Earlier, the exam officials released the IISER Exam 2025 notification for admissions to the bachelor's degree programmes offered at IISERs, IISc Bangalore, and IIT Madras. The notification includes the session's exam date, registration process details, eligibility criteria, and courses offered.

IISER Entrance Exam 2025 will be conducted on May 25, 2025 at various exam centres across the nation. IAT 2025 Application process is ongoing and candidates will be able to fill out the registration form till April 15, 2025. Candidates are advised to check out the IISER 2025 eligibility criteria meticulously before applying in order to not lose the candidature at any stage of the admission process.

IISER 2025 Major Changes Introduced

This year, IISER exam officials stipulate the major changes that have been introduced in the IISER 2025 exam conducting body, eligibility criteria, reservation criteria, new courses added, increased seat intake and other minor details. IISER 2025 Exam Conducting Body Changed

Earlier, the IISER Entrance Exam was cumulatively conducted by the IISERs. There was no specific IISER institute allocated for the conduction of the IISER Aptitude Test. However, for the academic session 2025-2026, IISER 2025 exam will be conducted by IISER Tirupati for the first time. All the admission process events like the IISER Application process, eligibility, pattern, syllabus, exam admit card, answer key, result, and counselling process will be administered by IISER Tirupati.

IISER Entrance Exam 2025 Events

Till last year, the IISER entrance exam application process used to start in April, and the exam was supposed to be conducted in June. This time, IISER Tirupati, the exam officials, has changed the IAT 2025 exam timeline. Now, the IISER 2025 application process will be started on March 3, 2025 onwards, and the exam will be conducted on May 25, 2025, at various exam centres across the nation. IISER 2025 Eligibility Criteria (Reversed)

IISER exam officials have earlier introduced a radical change in the IISER entrance exam eligibility criteria for academic session 2025-2026. Earlier IAT Eligibility criteria were determined based on the year in which the candidate has passed its Class 12 board exams. But from this session onwards, IISER 2025 eligibility criteria are based on the Date of Birth (DOB) of the candidates and age relaxation is given to the reserved category students.

As per IISER Exam 2025 New Eligibility Criteria: The IISER Admissions Board (IAB) for 2025 has decided to reinstate the eligibility criteria used for last year’s IISER Aptitude Test (IAT 2024) regarding the year of passing Class XII (or equivalent) examination. 

Educational Requirements:

• Candidates must have passed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2023 or 2024 or 2025 with science stream from any board recognized by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) in India. Foreign Nationals need to upload an equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities unless they have passed the Class XII or equivalent level examination in 2023 or 2024 or 2025 with science stream from any board recognized by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) in India. The equivalence certificate must be uploaded while submitting the IAT 2025 Application Form under "Please upload copy of document supporting your claim of Foreign National (You'll need to produce original when necessary)".

• Candidates must have taken at least three subjects among Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics during their Class XII (or equivalent) examination.

IISER 2025 Eligibility Criteria: Generic

• Nationality: Applicants must be Indian nationals, OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals to apply for IAT 2025.

• Board: The candidates must have passed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination with science stream from any board recognized by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) in India. Foreign Nationals need to upload an equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities unless they have passed the Class XII or equivalent level examination from any board recognized by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) in India. The equivalence certificate must be uploaded while submitting the IAT 2025 Application Form under "Please upload copy of document supporting your claim of Foreign National (You'll need to produce original when necessary)".

• Subject Combination: Candidates must have taken at least three subjects among Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics during their Class XII (or equivalent) examination.

• Per centage in Class 12: Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD are required to score a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination. Candidates belonging to other categories are required to score a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade in their Class XII (or equivalent) examination.

IISER Entrance Exam 2025 Seat Intake Increased

For the academic session 2024-2025, a total of 1933 seats were offered through IISER entrance exam at various IISERs, IISc Banglore and IIT Madras. From this session, two new courses have been added up which increases the overall IISER Entrance Exam 2025 seat intake. Candidates can check out the seat distribution form here:
