Various coaching institutes have released the JAM Mathematics question paper analysis. The paper was very difficult compared to last year. The memory-based question paper for IIT JAM Mathematics will be available soon. Students who appeared for the Mathematics paper can get high weightage topics, mark distributions, and overall difficulty level here. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay has released the official IIT JAM Maths question paper 2026 online.

IIT JAM 2026 was held on February 15, 2026. The JAM Mathematics paper was held in shift 1. The exam timing for IIT JAM Maths paper was 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Students appearing for the test must carry the IIT JAM hall ticket 2026 and a valid photo id. Also, follow the JAM 2026 exam day guidelines.

Q:   How many questions are asked in IIT JAM?

The are 60 questions in IIT JAM exam. These 60 questions were in the format of MCQ, MSQ and NAT type.

Q:   What type of questions Section A of IIT JAM exam has?
A: 

JAM 2026 exam for all the Test Papers was conducted as a computer-based Test  (CBT) where the candidates are shown the questions in a random sequence on a computer screen.

Section - A contains a total of 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) involving 10 questions of one mark each and 20 questions of two marks each. Each MCQ has four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer. Candidates can mark their answer by clicking one of the choices. A wrong answer will result in negative marks. For each wrong answer to 1 mark
questions, 1/3 mark is deducted and similarly for each wrong answer to 2 marks questions,  2/3 mark is deducted.

Q:   What type of question does Section C of IIT JAM exam has?

There are a total of 60 questions carrying a total of 100 marks

Section - C has a total 20 Numerical Answer Type questions, involving 10 questions of one mark each and 10 questions of two marks each. For NAT questions.

Q:   What type of questions does Section B of IIT JAM exam have?
A: 

JAM 2026 Examination was conducted for SEVEN subjects, also referred to as Test Papers: Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA),  Mathematical Statistics (MS), and Physics (PH). The medium for all the Test Papers is English only.

JAM 2026 examination pattern is divided in such a way that the exam was conducted in the form of three sections ie., Section A, B and C.

Section - B contains a total of 10 Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) carrying two marks each. Each MSQ is similar to MCQ but with the difference that MSQ may have one or more than one correct choice (s) out of the four given choices. The candidate is awarded full credit only if all the correct answer (s) and no wrong answers are selected. Candidates can mark the answer (s) by clicking the choice (s). There is no negative marking or partial marking for MSQ.

Q:   Will marks be deducted for unanswered questions in IIT JAM 2026?

In IIT JAM 2026 exam pattern, there is no deduction of marks for unanswered questions. Such questions are not taken into consideration while calculating the total marks.

Q:   What are the other miscellaneous information about IIT JAM examination pattern?
A: 

In all sections, questions not attempted will result in zero marks. There is no provision for partial marking. The candidates are required to select the answer (s) for MCQ and MSQ type questions using the mouse. The answer for NAT questions must be entered using a mouse on a virtual numeric keypad. The keyboard of the computer will be disabled.
There is a provision for using an online virtual calculator. Candidates are not allowed to bring their own calculators.
A scribble pad will be provided for rough work. Candidates have to write their name and registration number before using it. The scribble pad has to be returned at the end of the examination. The examination will end automatically after the GIVEN time.

IIT JAM 2026 Answer Key

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay released the provisional answer key for IIT JAM 2026 on February 24. Students can download the answer key through the JOAPS portal. They have to provide email address and password to login. The correct answer are mentioned in the answer key.  Students can cross check their answer key and calculate their total marks. JAM 2026 response sheet is available online. Students can challenge the provisional answer key by February 27, 2026.

IIT JAM 2026 Mathematics Question Paper Structure

Students who are appearing for IIT JAM Maths paper must know the question structure. JAM exam is conducted as computer based test for three hours. The question paper comprises 60 questions for 100 marks. There are three sections in the JAM question paper - A, B, and C. Section A comprises 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). In Section B there are 10 Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) and 20 Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions in Section C. Negative marking is done for Section 1.

Your Class 12 marks does not matter for admission at IIT Goa for the MSc courses. For admission at this IIT for the MSc programme, you would need to first have a Bachelors degree with at least 55% marks for the General and OBC  categories (50% marks for the SC, ST and PWD categories).

No, you cannot get admission to IIT Goa with a rank of 2267 in the IIT JAM exam. As per the IIT Goa cutoff 2026, the round three closing ranks ranged from 775 to 792 for the General AI category. Hence, admission to this college with the attained rank is not possible.

IIT Goa JAM cutoff 2026 was released up to the third round for different AI quota categories. For the General AI category, the round 3 closing ranks ranged from 775 to 792. So, General AI category candidates need to attain a rank of at least 792 to be elgible for admission.

No, according to the IIT Dharwad MSc cutoff 2026 for the third round, you cannot get into this college. For the General AI category, the round 3 closing rank was 708

But you can get into IIT Goa in the third round. This college had the 3rd round cutoff of 775 for the General AI category.

IIT Dharwad MSc Physics cutoff 2026 was 767 for the General AI category in the third round. The IIT Dharwad MSc cutoff 2026 has been released up to round 3 for admission to the MSc in Physics and other branches.

The IIT Gandhinagar JAM cutoff 2026 has been released till the 3rd round for admission to the MSc courses. The OBC AI category, the round 3 cutoff ranged from 439 to 459. Therefore, students need to attain a rank of at least 459 or below if they belong to this category.

Yes, you can get into IIT Hyderabad with a rank of 400 if you belong to the OBC AI category. For this category, the round 3 cutoff ranged from 454 to 707
